I have suffered from vertigo for 30 years or more now. For many years it was put down to Menieres Disease (http://oto.wustl.edu/men/). I wake up some mornings and have to hang on to the bedhead as the whole room spins around me. More recently, I saw a new doctor who has put it down to Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) (http://www.tchain.com/otoneurology/disorders/bppv/bppv.html). I am convinced that my condition is stress related. You should see your doctor as there are a couple of medications available - either 'Stemetil' aka proclorperazine or Betahistine

my son had this when he was about 10...the ear, nose, and throat doctor said it had something to do with crystals in the ear canal, i think, being out of whack....usually from some form of head trauma....forgive me but it was 5 years ago...go see an ENT
