gross weight means the nett weight plus the weight of the package containing whatever the nett weight happens to comprise.
if you buy a ten kilo box of apples you should get ten kilos of apples, but when you pick up the full box you are lifting nearly eleven kilos because the gross weight includes the weight of the box.

Net weight is things weight.
Gross weight is things+pack weight.
Difference between these two is pack weight.
