Upgraded in several ways, Downgraded in a few.
Science & Technology has helped us lead much better lives, There is basic understanding of Civilization & Rule of law in most countries, etc..
The only downside is that we've ruined our environment - but i believe nature is far too powerful for us to destroy it completely.

In my opinion, the question of upgradation does not arise. Humanity has degraded and there are instances more than one. Each one wants more and more and one is not satisfied with what one has and also is not ready to share anything to the needy. This is a general observation and no one should take offence of this.

in my opinion we are only two generations from chaos and savagery. on a good day.
most of the time, not even that.
