I wanted to find the right God, so I just started praying ten years ago for God to reveal himself to me, whoever he was. I wanted the real God - the creator of the universe - the God of love and truth!

Well, I get on my knees every night before bed and sincerely pray for God to show me himself (however he chooses to do it) I've done this for eight years! After I pray, it is my habit to sit for twenty or thirty minutes and just listen and reflect.

I pray first thing in the morning also, while I'm getting ready for work. I got nothing at all really, except for this deep peace that I was a human and that everything was going to be alright.

I felt an increasing connection to all life and to the world. But no specifics about who or what God is - just a feeling that God is all around me. I am not trying to pick a religion, only trying to find the true God.

People are always trying to give me proofs for their religions: Muslims – history, that the name of Allah is miraculously

. The Christians say that Jesus’ is alive and his tomb is empty and visions of the virgin Mary, etc. But it is impossible to come to God using evidence. I have decided it would take a lifetime to sort through all the evidences and proofs from all the different claims of religion! I’m just not that smart.

I have developed a moral sense on my own, using my own judgment and I do not believe it is right to harm anyone in any way, I love people and animals. I have a simple life and I am compelled to help people and be kind. I do not drink or smoke and I value humility. I believe in love.

When I pray, I have faith, believing that God will answer.

So, nine years ago, I read through the Bible and studied it but something just wasn't jiving with my soul, so I studied the Koran- same thing! I have also read the Book of Mormon and some Watchtower literature.

Someone challenged me to study the Bible again and pray a certain way, four years ago, so I did, I spent two years in

intensive study and prayer about the God of the Bible but I knew it just wasn’t the answer. He said I would go to Hell, but how am I supposed to accept something based on that? No God would ask me to do such a thing. I do not imagine that God is a bully! So I continued my search.

I read the Bhagavad Gita and it stirred me, and felt more like a philosophy that I could relate to than a God-focused religion. Buddhism is compelling, but even that…

Funny, I feel strangely and intimately close to a God I could never define or describe! And though he remains nameless, I love Him.

God feels more and more like just life itself! I’m wondering if I may have already found what I’ve been looking for – it just feels right, you know? It’s not about religion, but about relationship. I think I can say that I know God, and God is good!

Bro. Finding God is not actual issue. Almost all religion believe in one God, problem is related to His attribut and perfection.
Question is... Is God one and unique?
Does He begets? is He begotten?
Does He have some one else with the same status and grade.
Does He require to share His power and control over affairs with any another individual, or He is powerful enough to control everything He created.
Does He require blood of innocent to forgive sins of manking or He hold everyone responsible for their own sins.
Is He unjust to transfer mistake of one person to all his descendednt?

>>" just a feeling that God is all around me."<<

sounds like your getting your answer, just not quite in the way you expected.

>>"I do not believe it is right to harm anyone in any way, I love people and animals. I have a simple life and I am compelled to help people and be kind. I do not drink or smoke and I value humility. I believe in love."<<

if that is not good enough for whatever God someone else tells you about, is that God really worth your attention anyway?

>>"God feels more and more like just life itself! I’m wondering if I may have already found what I’ve been looking for – it just feels right, you know? It’s not about religion, but about relationship. I think I can say that I know God, and God is good!"<<

I'd say that you absolutely have found precisely what you have been looking for.

a phrase in a book I just loved, was "I don't believe in God, but what I believe in, I call God."

for me, God could be described as essentially the Gestalt awareness of the sum of all that is. the sum of infinity to the infinity'th power, to the infinity-th power, plus one. the absolute sum of everything in all of existance. even all the non-existance, the space between what is, ect. and that every bit of that infinity of infinitys down to the tiniest bit, is the sum of the whole as well.

some will tell you otherwise, but I think you already know better. like Tuberoot there, to you, from the sound of it, his opinion will almost certainly seem impossibly... silly-ly childish and small-minded. as you have already found, no mediator is needed, to become close to the true nature of God.

I would also reccomend reading a bit about Kabbalah, the real stuff not the pop garbage. which is which will probably be quite clear to you as you read.

The way to know if you have found the one, true God is what you believe concerning Jesus, His Son.

John 3:16-18--"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
v. 17--For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
v. 18--He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

John 6:40--"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day."

John 14:6--Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

John 15:23--"He who hates Me hates My Father also."

John 12:49--"For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak."

Many claim to believe in God, but if you do not believe in Jesus Christ, His Son, I am afraid that you are lost. Not my doctrine---God's word.

There is nothing you can do to earn your way to heaven--no amount of prayer, good works, etc. will get you there. There is no salvation apart from Him.

If after all that, you got down to those last 3 words that you wrote, ( God is good ) then it was worth the journey.

But I have to ask. Why did you think the bible said you would go to hell? From what I know the bible doesn't say that people who earnestly seek for God like you do , will go to hell.

I will try to answer this question in religious terms.

Ok, when you ask your God to come/reveal himself, then aren't you confining him. Do you think he is an animal/creature who is sitting somewhere and can come and go. Just think, what was there before the creation of this universe: God. If you reverse the creation, where would it end in? So, God created everything from himself. everything in this universe, including you and me, is part of God, so ultimately, everything is God. So, if the Universe is the extension of God himself, then where would they are return: towards God. In this way there is no concept of reveletion, hell, paradise, etc. Life and Death are different forms of God.Death is not a curse,as usually religious scholars frighten us. Popes and Mullah have no place between us and the God. Who is nearest to me:my ownself. That's religious secularism and the best form of all.

In fact,we the human beings attribute our own qualities wih God. Why should God walk. why should he have a presence, why should he have something to reveal. All these are human attributes.
to tell you my belief, God(ordinary concept) is the enlarged human wishes. men want to be strong, so God is the ultimate sysmbol of power; men want to be immortal, so is God; men wish to be present everywhere( its endeavours in creating mass media technology), so God is Omnipresent. You just analyse attributes of God and would be amazed to find that they are all human desires in their extreme form.

KNOW THYSELF, YOU WOULD KNOW GOD,

I guess we can never know if you've found the true God, until after we are dead. However, I really like your idea God, and that sounds pretty close to my own beliefs. Personally, I think you have found the True God, the heart of the Sacred, but there are a plethora of people that disagree!

You sound kinda like you are affirming either pantheism or panentheism. They both confirm the imminence of God here on earth, but Panentheism also confirms the transcendence, the otherness of God.

Can I reccomend to you a book? Try reading The God we Never Knew by Marcus Borg. I think you'd find it really interesting.

I am totally telling you the truth; Jesus is the way to seek. Wanting to come to God comes from God. That's why we can truthfully say, "Glory to God." Because He is responsible for the mere desire to come to Him.

I have confidence that if you are being chosen by Him, He will lead you to him. You mention that you are getting 'feelings', in this case, those are good. God's Spirit leads those who He chooses to Him. He did that with me.

But don't go by what I say. Go how God says and teaches you. If you have already learned to lean on the Spirit of God, then you are indeed in good hands. You are not far from the kingdom.

My God says he that seeks the truth will find it and My God is the God of the Bible who is righteous and merciful and who sent his son to atone for sin and to bring his creation to his righteousness and Jesus himself said he is the the only way to the Father as he did provide the atonement for all who have sinned to be joined to a righteous God. I will not be your judge nor will I condemn you but I believe the atonement is the way to a relationship with a righteous God. The decision belongs to you as we are all given free will to believe as we see fit and it seems you have according to you sought the truth I am not your judge and have no idea what you believe but I do know that God is righteous and he did send his son that he might pay the penalty of death for all who accept the atonement

Yes, you found the true God.
Branch out into some mystical literature like 'The Cloud of Unknowing' and 'Practicing the Presence of God.' What you describe is also the basis of the Orthodox Christian practice of "remembering God," which, along with 'nepsis' (controlling the thoughts) and 'hesychia' (quieting the mind) form the foundation of Orthodox Christian mysticism.

It sounds to me like you have found the true God. I dont think that he will reveal himself to any of us until we have progressed our souls enough to be able to see and hear him. You sound like a very nice person, full of love and truth and that, my friend, will get you to high and bright places in time to come. I too have looked into many religions and have found that most of them contradict themselves in one way or another. You are on a divine path, keep praying and loving and searching, for one day you will be sure to be standing infront of our dear heavenly father. All the best on your life journey :)
