My husband and I do the same type of work, not in the Los Angeles area, but we charge 1.50 per sq ft to paint, one color. You might also try charging by the hour. Some people are not comfortable with a "flat rate" per job. When we charge by the hour it is a minimum of $20.00 per hour depending on how involved the job is. I would call around to get quotes on doing the same job, then you will have a better idea of what the "prevailing" charges for the area are. Word of caution: Dont start out too low to "get business", it is very very difficult to get your prices up after that. If you are good at what you do, dont be afraid to charge for it. Quality work, will you get you word of mouth business, not low prices.

Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!

You ask how much you should charge when the real question you need to ask is how much will this job cost me to do.
How much is the primer?
The Paint? how many coats?Colors?
Caulk or spackle?
Brushes
rollers
tarps.
How much is the sink?
the countertop?
Faucet?
Caulk?
Screws?
Will you have clear access to the work area or will you need to move the family credenza?
How much will it cost you for gas to get to the project?
Do you have insurance?

This is your overhead for this job (Less employees labor)

Figure all of that, double it and add 20% and you should be in the ball park.

Believe it or not that will be within 5% of most bids the homeowner may have recieved for the project
