At the monent it is 10 hours. Germany is UTC+1 while Melbourne is UTC+11 because Melbourne is on Daylight Saving Time. Melbourne comes off DST the last weekend in March and will then be UTC+10 or 9 hours ahead of Bavaria. When Germany goes onto DST, it will be UTC+2 while Melbourne will still be UTC+10 so there will be an eight hour difference.

This is a little complex, but: The difference is 11 hours (but only for the next two weeks) :

Bavaria uses CET (Central European Time), which is GMT/UTC (Greenwich Mean Time) PLUS ONE HOUR.

Melbourne uses EST (Eastern Summer Time), which is GMT/UTC PLUS ELEVEN HOURS ( PLUS 10 HOURS, AND ONE ADDITIONAL HOUR FOR DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME) .

Note: Melbourne will END Daylight Savings Time on March 25th, 2007 at 3: a.m.local time.

and Bavaria will BEGIN Daylight Savings Time on March 25th, 2007 at 2 a.m. local time.
