Warning - BIASED ANSWER !!
The United States Navy !! Great travel opportunities especially in the PacFleet. The ships now all have email capabilities, which is SO much nicer than the old days of mail taking a week to a MONTH to get from ship to home.
NOTHING is more spectacular than watching a sunset far out at sea... except perhaps standing out on deck at midnight and seeing more stars that you've ever seen before.
Engineers and mechanics are PART of the Navy, so of course you deploy.
And of course, there are the education opportunities - same as with all the services. I finished a MBA while out at sea.
Good luck and thanks for considering serving our country

Navy, but then I am biased. I served 4 years and my husband has been in for 6. As far as traveling, that all depends on what job you get in any branch. No one can tell. My husband works on Aircraft avionics components. He hasn't left home in almost 3 years. Next month he will be going to Panama City and in a few months, Bahrain. i liked being in the Navy and my husband loves it. He has many close personal friends because of shared time on boats and shared experiences. It's a small world in the military and you see the same people over and over again. What ever you choose, good luck.

Air Guard ..you will be the last group to get sent over.and your tours of duty are shorter and less time in a hot zone
The schools are pretty much the same and yes you will be sent overseas but not necessarily fighting

i am going to assert up the front that I actually have a bias being that i'm in the military nationwide look after yet right here's my address it... in the starting up, the look after is likely assistance to serve your united states, state and native community. No different corporation has a twin project like the look after. it may ward off human beings from hurricanes, floods, snow storms, and so on, and so on or you may wrestle the country's wars. that's totally worthwhile. i imagine i have about finished all of it in my time. 2d, once you're searching for an preparation, in some states the look after gives you finished training for any state sponsored college. I actually have infantrymen in my unit who attend college of Kentucky and college of Louisville for close to no longer some thing at the same time as they use the training assistance, GI bill, and drill pay. in our surroundings we are in, at present, the look after is on a rotation cycle. you'll know once you're going to set up a minimum of 5 years out. i'm in Iraq, now. i know that i'm scheduled to set up with yet another unit in 2013. that provides me a lot of creating plans time earlier the subsequent one. also, as of this previous January, we are in undemanding words mobilized for 3 hundred and sixty 5 days at a time and not in any respect the common 15 to 18 months we are in on the prompt. so as that section is getting more beneficial useful. i am hoping this helps.
