Only if I get to go with a contract company. They do the exact same job as the military, but get paid 6-7 times more money.
I'm not allowed to serve with the military because I'm gay. I'm not flamboyant but I refuse to hide it if the discussion arises. It wouldn't take long for someone to ask me if I had a wife or girlfriend. Even if I just simply said, no I don't, they would press the issue and I'd have to beat around the bush to avoid getting kicked out. Its not easy, to just not admit being gay in the military. I know so many gay people in every branch of the military and they are doing a fine job.

Been in the Army and Army Reserve for the better part of 17 years. I have not yet gone, but would if told to. I don't agree with the war, I don't agree with the pretenses, and I do not agree with the way that things have been mismanaged, but all that is irrevelant. If you are in the Armed Forces and you are given a lawful order, you follow it.

Already did and would do it again with a big smile...if you are in the military and thinking about not going even though they told you to then thats just stupid...the Military is not a college program for liberals the military's buisness is war and if you cant accept that you never should've joined up

If I signed an Enlistment Contract to become a member of the US Armed Forces, yes I would. Even though I have serious issues with this conflict and especially of decisions made in terms of leadership, I would be compelled to go since it is the role of enlistees to serve and uphold a sworn oath.

Yeah, I've been there. Me, and a bunch of other guys did missions there. What the hell kind of question is this?
The US Military is a Volunteer force. Anyone in it knows they get called, and don't get to pick what war to serve in.
If they re-activated me, I'd go, no problem, and give 110%, and make sure my insurance was paid up.

To guitarman: I am a republican. I am a woman. I would proudly go and serve my country if asked. My son is currently talking with army recruiters and will be going in after his high school graduation. He is a brilliant young man and could choose to do anything he wanted = he chooses to serve his country and I am VERY proud of him. If ordered he has said he would go to Iraq without reservation. You sir are a coward and are using politics to cover up your lack of courage and your lack of respect for your country.
I also believe in freedom of choice. I would not ask anyone to go to war if they have objections based upon their values and core beliefs. I do not consider them cowards at all. I think the vast majority of these people would defend this country against an all out attack with their lives. It is the people who use the argument of republican against democrat or who is responsible or who is not. The fact is the war is happening and everyone in our military is their by choice. A republican did not hold a gun to anyones head and make them join. I personally do not think this war is about oil. It is about the continueing threat of terrorism and the fight against torture and murder in the face of free thinking. It is about people who would gladly wipe us from the face of the earth and then rejoice. It is about Freedom.
As for the question --- I think I've answered it.

Yes, I would. If that was the case, then I would be in one of the armed forces, and would have to go, whether I liked it or not. It's a job, you do what you're told!

Civilians in a democracy, have the necessary liberty, but in the military, "a command is a command" and I wonder, if you have heard the soldier's ballad, (akin to that of a monk) :
"Yours not to question why?
Yours but to do and die!"

Without hesitation.
I'd love to go. I'm an Air Force retiree, by the way and 65 years old, so I'm not likely to be sent, but I'd sure go if they asked me to.
