your best bet is to come off as a friend...when you go to see him, he may or may not try to give you a kiss, give him the "family hello" where you tilt your head to the side and give him a kiss towards the side of his face...never making actual contact...lol if that makes sense.

just see what he has to say...if he starts going on about getting back together with you...just tell him..you understand where he is coming from, but he needs to understand that although your relationship had its ups and downs and it didnt work out for "said" reason, you have moved on and found someone that you really get a long with.

Why have you not already let him down in the first place?? Seriously, you can't have this "be friends" business until you have both moved on past the old relationship. And "stay friends" doesn't always work. Why does everyone think its so great to stay friends with an ex? It can be great for the one that has moved on, but if the other hasn't, there can be no friendship. And even if you have both moved on, doesn't mean you will always be able to be friends in the end.

You had a great time while you were together, you learned things about yourselves, you move on to another chapter of life, accept it and don't worry about staying friends with everyone you had serious relationships with.

Be honest with him because he's just wondering how he can win you back. Let him down gently by telling him that you are seeing someone else because if you don't he will just assume that maybe you'll change your mind. If you want to remain friends with him, think about the person who you are seeing. Would it be appropriate? Would you be able to tell the person you are seeing about you and your ex being friends?

Tell him: "I would love too. Oh, by the way, would you mind if I brought my boyfriend along? I would love for you to meet him."

Say it straight. If he doesn't understand, it is his problem.
