I think BT are getting pretty low, charging people more who have no direct debit set-up, all the poor grannies will get stung..Do you think the government should do something?

its not just bt all companies charge more if you don't pay by direct debit and the savings only work out at 10 pounds a year in most cases not much considering what my bills are anyway lol

I think you'll find most major companies charge extra for non-direct debit payments, so don't just slag off BT.
And some companies charge a lot more than BT for the service.
It just seems that BT bashing is in the in-thing!

Definitely!! this has got to be illegal, I gave up BT years ago when they monopolised the telecommunications industry. They were pretty ruthless in those days, charges going up all the time, what a rip off, people seem to forget those things.
After saying all that I have noticed other companies employing the same tactics,all part of the ''rip off Britain'' scenario.

British gas were doing the same charging £5 for late paying customers.
I left bt as i think they are a rip off get a better deal with Pipex.

Yes i really think something should be done about this. They're forcing people to pay online basically. IT's a shame as you say for old people who do not have internet connection, or people who can't use them. The Government should definately do something. Makes me want to get another phone line provider and internet supplier, but they know fine well that that's a hassle to people. It's very unfair and shouldn't be allowed. They're just ripping people off even more than they are already.

The trouble with Bt is that they have always been greedy,keep telling you that you will save on this and that, it is a load of bull.I am definatley shifting.

Most companies will waive the fees if you ask...and if they say no...escalate to a manager!! good luck!!
