You can't get your credit score for free, only the credit report. The bureaus charge for the score. The only way I know to get a free score is to ask a mortgage loan officer to pull your credit for you.

Woof.

The site kamaljot cited is the only FTC-authorized site which gives free annual credit reports. Be ware of any other sites because you could fall prey to some type of scam.

It is not the credit SCORE, by the way, that you are allowed free by law. It's your credit report(s), which show(s) your accounts and debts. You should view them for accuracy periodically. The score, however, does cost money.

Go to the bank where you have your checking account. They are required to give you one free report per year--no strings attached.

Of course they may try to get you to sign up for something, but you do not have to.
