I was feeling perfectly fine and great on a beautiful day. I had just picked my friend up, and as I was backing out of the driveway after I reached my arm to reverse I got this sudden horrible chest pain in the middle of my chest. There was no radiating arm pain - not like a heart attack. But I couldn't move or move my right arm up or my chest would be sore and feel like it was caving in. I took advil and xanax, then was able to get out of my car and walk aroudn the neighborhood and it went away. It was scary.. any ideas on what the heck that was?

You probably lessened the effects of your pain with the zanex and advil and movement. It's probably time for you to see your doctor and let him evaluate these symptoms. It's quiet possible you suffered a mild heart attack. Many women have them without realizing it before seeking treatment, don't know why we do, but we do. Funny that it's "women" that don't notice the pain as severe. Any time there is sudden pain accompanied with a heavy feeling in your chest or in the back for a period of time, you should be evaluated by your physician. Next time may not be a "light one" like this time was,if it was a mild heart attack. I had an ekg done a couple of years ago prior to a surgery and had to have a cardiologist check mine before I could have surgery, said my scan showed I'd had a previous heart attack. It's better to be safe and make necessary changes, even if it's exercise, quitting smoking, giving up caffeine or changing your medications you're taking or taking the ones you need to take for this. I hope you'll take my advice and see your doctor. Hope I've been of some help today and good luck!

You didn't say how old you are but I am assuming you are in your 20's. I do not think your heart was the cause of your pain. What you describe is very atypical for a heart attack or heart related problem. You may have had a muscle spasm causing a pinched a nerve in your shoulder or even your neck.
If your symptoms recur, or you are still worried see your doctor.

A heart attack is suspected if you have chest pain lasting more then 30min, with any of the following: shortness of breath, sweating, left arm pain, jaw pain, nausea, weakness, light headedness, irregular heart beat.
You walked around and it got better that does not go along with a heart problem, it would have gotten worse.

You need to see a doctor. With any chest pain and soon. If there was some kind of attack there are blood tests that reveal what took place. This is very serious, take this seriously.

I ended up in the ER last year with severe chest pain it felt like a sharp stab and then ripple like a drop hitting water. Luckily It was not my hart but a bad case of acid reflux and I already take meds for it. If it happens again you need to go to the ER.

This pain is termed angina pectoris.

It does not mean heart attack but simply heart muscle is not receiving adequate oxygen. some breathing techniques called pranayama can be learnt at yoga school. That will take care permanently.

Adjust diet, eat light for dinner, sleep well, early morning walk... in short live by nature.

how do you know it wasn't a heart attack? did you have an EKG, blood work, and a chest xray?
even those tests aren't 100%. sounds like you are suffering from a medical condition called denial. take an aspirin and get to the ER.

It could have been an angina attack. You should see a doctor to have your heart monitored.

Seems like some sort of symtoms of a heart disease. You better get your heart scanned, just in case.
