If you were considering dating someone, does their job significantly matter?

Yes. Very very important. Otherwise, I would be the one feeding, clothing him and paying all his bills.
He has to make enough money to be able to look after our kids if we happen to have some, and also afford a goof time.
Mind you, I would also be contributing.

He doesn't have to have a good job currently, like if he works as a cashier but is going to school, but he has to have some goals and motivation to get out of his crappy job if he has a crappy job. I wouldn't turn a guy down for having a low-paying job if he had just graduated college and was looking for a better job but was having problems, or if he had just lost his good job through a layoff or other reason, or if he's currently going to college and those are the only kind of jobs that will work with his schedule, etc. But if he has been working in the same crappy job for say, 3-5 yrs. and keeps saying he'll find another job but never does or just never looks for one, then yeah that would be a turn-off and I would probably not date him.

Yes - because I am not in the market to be a sugar momma, but I don't expect someone to take care of me. Also, holding down a job is a good indicator of several things, responsibility, a persons interests, their dedication and if they enjoy what they do it makes the whole relationship easier. A job is really good insight to a person as they spend a great amount of their waking hours and energy on it.

I think what matters more is the significance you place on a girl's opinion in determining whether having a good job is important to you. I wouldn't date you if the only reason you got a good job is because I wanted you to. I want someone who wants more for himself than to spend his days offering people fries with that. A self-motivated, goal oriented, dreamer. I can bring home a paycheck myself, It isn't about the money.

well we girls have different types of guy..whether he has a good job or none..first, i think that you should know well about the girl you're dating because being friends is the best stage to develop your relationship..if not, i mean if you don't know the girl that much,, i think that a man should have a good job,,i mean a good respected job..because jobs aren't measured by how big the salary you may get but if you love you're job i'm sure that you'll be able to excel and develop your job in to a good or better one.
i hope that i helped a little.

To me it is quite important. If it's just a fling, then it's ok that he doesn not have a stable job but it's going to be talking about marriage, definitely a good job is important.

no it does not matter. i think both parties should be independent of each other especially if you are only interested in a fling. yes it does matter if you want to take it to the next level and have considered marriage

a good job doesn't only mean big money. it means the guy is at least intelligent. did well at school.... and with a little chance it might also mean he is well educated, honest, polite, trustworthy,etc....
