The above poster mentioned that one is able to get cough medicine with codeine without a prescription. Not true, at least in the US. I beleive in Canada you can get it from the pharmacist.
Anyway, if you have a legitimate need for this your doctor will give it to you. Otherwise you're SOL. I wouldn't suggest asking for this, or any medication by name when going to the doctor either. They tend to get suspicious when you're not completely ignorant about drugs and medications.

You will have to get a doctor's RX for this, and tell him your symptoms so he can prescribe the right thing . If your are needing cough syrup with codeine, most pharmacies now have them back behind the counter, and you have to sign for it, so they can keep up with who may be abusing. But you don't need a script for this, just make sure it is taken in moderation.

The doctor will only give you a prescription if you are ill and can't sleep - such as bad cough keeping you up or something. Unless you have some crooked as doc that will write a prescription for anything then you have to be sick.

why do you need a prescription for coedine. If you go in there asking for coedine the doctor is going to see you as a drug seeker. Your doctor tells you what he'll prescribe and it makes you look bad if you ask for something in particular. Which I think is unfair to be judged like that but it happens. goood luck

Go to Doctor and tell him you're in pain...but don't get hooked. Believe me, you'll never get out of that one. Or if you're asking because you're already hooked...my sympathy.
