I am trying to understand the war in Iraq. I would like feedback from Muslims, Christians, Atheists, and anyone else who knows about this war. Is it ultimately something to do with money? Perhaps a combination of the both. Feel free to post your thoughts. I will further research your answers, if possible please include links to any material you might be citing from.
Thanks =)

We are still there because there are different religious groups who refuse to work together to resolve difference among themselves and establish peace.
There are Shiites, Curds and Sunni and they would probably be better off if they were split into 3 countries and able to keep their own cultures separate.

It's certainly not a religious war - at least from the American perspective. From the insurgent perspective it's largely economic and political shrouded in religion.
To understand the war, you'll need to remember or study the level of national anxiety after 9/11 and the previous 10 years of Saddam and the nofly zones and broken resolutions.
What people don't seem to understand is that the war is over and won. the goal was to depose Hussein and install a new government. Done. The occupation and rebuilding has been the trick.
What perpetuates the war is two fold - one is simple pride the other is regional and economic stability. Though I would argue working toward a stable relationship with Iran would go much further than a stable Iraq at this point.

It might have something to do with freedom. O_o
Maybe it's related to the tyrannical ruling party that was ousted?
Could it be that eventually all problem areas will have to be dealt with from the outside and military solutions are used?
Iraq's a small part of a bigger problem known as Southwest Asia which itself is a small part of the big problem known as the World.
The U.S. is dammed if they do, dammed if they don't so what's it matter why, the country was given a chance to be better off and it's being squandered away just like Somalia was which means other countries will suffer as a result because of hesitation like Rwanda and Darfur.

I believe it's based on religion for some, like Al Quida says it's based on a Jihad -their religion. For some in the US it's a humanitarian effort to stop the violence & movement by the terrorists. I heard from a show on CNN that it's partly based on oil as it would open up the region to drive oil through. Could be a combination of motivations for some.
And, yes, it's a culture clash & possible civil war.

I say it is more about america trying to push its ideals onto the Iraqi people and covertly take over their country through the guise of a Humanitarian mission more than anything.

Maybe just one man's vendetta. To quote Saddam Hussein, "We have nothing against America. We just want to see George Bush beheaded and his head kicked down the street like a soccer ball."

its all about power. they're using religion as an excuse, which is very wrong and unhealthy... no religion teach their followers to kill one another.
