Yes, it is very dangerous. You always need to be alert and focused on the road while driving, so that you won't have an accident.

More so. I saw a video while in traffic school where they did an experiment comparing the effects of alcohol to the effects of lack of sleep. They did it scientifically, I'm not gonna explain all that, but the end result was that the drivers all did much better when drunk than while they were tired. The biggest difference was when they were drunk, they knew there were making mistakes, but didn't seem to be able to do anythign about it. When they were tired, they didn't even realize they were running over cones. So, if you have to choose between driving drunk or tired, choose drunk every time. From that I got out of it, that's the official position of a traffic school certified by the state of California. Hippies.

Yes, it can be. I have a cousin who was working two jobs and going home late one night (about 2:00 AM) and fell asleep and ran off the road. She survived, but she had to have numerous operations, including plastic surgery to totally reconstruct her face. She was around 20 at the time, and now, several years later, she suffers from health problems that are directly linked to the accident.

And, the sad part is, she was lucky not only to have survived, but also not to have involved anyone else in the accident.

Tell your friends that if they are really drowsy, they need to find a safe place to stop and get out and stretch, maybe have a cup of coffee, and wait until they feel alert enough to get back on the road.

Driving tired is driving impaired. It is just as dangerous, possibly more, because it sneaks up on you. Other drivers can sometimes spot a drunk, but a sleep driver sometimes isn't noticed until he falls asleep and crashes.

yes it is! its dangerous to him and to the other people he meets on the road!

being drowsy is just the same as when you're drunk..when you had too much to drink, drowsiness is one of its symptoms, right?

chances are, your friend might lose the concentration needed when driving during his drowsy spells. its much better to be safe that sorry!!

A drunk driver has slow reflexes. A sleeping driver has no reflexes.

It may be true that a drowsy driver may have less road sense than a drunken one. But atleast you could wake him/her up with horn or a scream * (before something happens that is)

he/she should pull over, take a nap and continue after that.. its safer that way.

i had an accident as a result of tired driving.. luckily no one was hurt, except for my pocket....
