Why do Christians assume that if you believe in Evolution, you're an atheist?

I'm a muslim and I believe in evolution.

So why is it that evolution = atheist stereotype?

Oh, and can I apply the "do not judge others" thang now?

Just to let you know the Qu'ran also said Adam was created from earth, and recent studies shows that early life form could catalyst from earth to form early living cells that would go on and evolve to higher lifeforms.

And a couple of Qu'ranic verses that supports evolution and Adam succeding a race that was already on earth.

Need I to say more?

Can you support your claims about 'proof' in the Quran by citing the verse numbers?

btw, the theory of evolution is just a 'theory'. If it were true, it would have been the 'facts' of evolution !!!!!

I'm not Christian, so this is just a guess. But I think it has to do with their belief that "God" created everything and that if you believe that science has created something or the lack of "God" has created something then you don't believe in "God" and therefor must be an Atheist. I myself don't see what is wrong with being Christian and seeing that the evolutionary proccess is well researched and makes many valid points. My veiw is that since no one was there to record how evolution or how "God" placed every thing and everyone on Earth then who's to say that there isn't some all powerful being and who's to say that Evolution didn't happen?

Christians, like the rest of the population, can count educated and non-educated people as members. Many who grew up in Christian homes and have not been exposed to other religions may have a tendency to make assumptions about non-Christians. BTW, Evolution is a natural phenomenon that can be observed like Gravity, but whether that's the origin of Human Life is indeed subject to debate. Just want everyone to be clear on this point.

First of all, there isn't really such a thing as "belief in" evolution. I would speculate there is only "Sufficient knowledge of", and "Insufficient knowledge of" evolution within species. I "know about" evolution, which goes beyond simple 'belief in'.

An appropriate understanding of evolution tends to be associated with non-believers due to the obvious fact that most religions containing a "Creator God" contradict many facets of evolution.

Please do not misunderstand the following evidence for my answer, as I am NOT "judging" your belief, I'm simply pointing out a fact you may not have realized.

The following is a quotation from the Qur'an :

"We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape..." (15:26). And, "He began the creation of man from clay, and made his progeny from a quintessence of fluid" (32:7-8).

So you can see, according the Qur'anic account of HUMAN creation, we did not in fact come into existence as a result of evolutionary change. Humans are the one exception within Islam, the one species that absolutely could not have come into existence through biological and environmental changes and/or adaptation. The simple truth is, evolution as a process contradicts many fundamental ideas a Muslim is led to believe.

There is NO argument, evolution is a fact. There is no legitimate, significant debate within the scientific community. And the reason that the principle of evolution is associated with non-theists is because evolution's realities don't gel well enough with most religions.

Evidence #1
There are no transitional links and intermediate forms in either the fossil record or the modern world. Therefore, there is no actual evidence that evolution has occurred either in the past or the present.
Evidence #2
Natural selection (the supposed evolution mechanism, along with mutations) is incapable of advancing an organism to a "higher-order".
Evidence #3
Although evolutionists state that life resulted from non-life, matter resulted from nothing, and humans resulted from animals, each of these is an impossibility of science and the natural world.
Evidence #4
The supposed hominids (creatures in-between ape and human that evolutionists believe used to exist) bones and skull record used by evolutionists often consists of `finds' which are thoroughly unrevealing and inconsistent. They are neither clear nor conclusive even though evolutionists present them as if they were.
Evidence #5
Nine of the twelve popularly supposed hominids are actually extinct apes/ monkeys and not part human at all.
Evidence #6
The final three supposed hominids put forth by evolutionists are actually modern human beings and not part monkey/ ape at all. Therefore, all twelve of the supposed hominids can be explained as being either fully monkey/ ape or fully modern human but not as something in between.
Evidence #7
Natural selection can be seen to have insurmountable social and practical inconsistencies.
Evidence #8
Natural selection has severe logical inconsistencies.
Evidence #9
The rock strata finds (layers of buried fossils) are better explained by a universal flood than by evolution.

Ignorance. I don't believe in the creation version of the Bible or Quran, nor do I believe in evolution. The so-called holy books were written by men and evolution is a mere theory....not fact. I believe we were created by a power we have no way to comprehend. I'd just leave it at that, and go along with this incredible ride of life on this earth.

While evolution does not equate to Atheism, it is directly incompatible with the creation myth described in the Old Testament. Hence these (some) Christians are not wrong by assuming that since you believe in evolution you refute at least some of the fundamental teachings of both the Bible and the Quran.

there is not a way to say that evolution=atheist because it doesn't

but evolution is 100% contrary to the bible.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SERVE THE DEVIL FOR HIM TO WIN, YOU JUST HAVE TO STOP SERVING (BELIEVING) GOD FOR THE DEVIL TO WIN.

besides, evolution was never proven, it was only a theory that no one really looked into.

without making any judgments or anything like that, if someone really believes that people starting from apes and so on, why hasn't it happened again.

Why are apes not turning into people anymore? The bible says that every seed bears it's own seed, that is not evolving into something from something else.

thank you for putting the "some" in there.

The trick with some Christians is they take the Bible literally (at least in some places). With little attention paid to translation quirks, this can be very dangerous.

I look to the "test everything" doctrine in the Bible, it seems to make the most sense.

In the end, issues such as evolution and others are insignficant compared to our relationship with God and mankind.
