My wisdom teeth have all grown in and are beginning to rot...ew! And I have close to about 10 cavities. I live in Olympia, WA, and understand that prices for dentists can differ greatly, but I was wondering if I could get an estimate of how much it'll cost to fix my teeth...with and without nitrous oxide. I'm really scared of dentists, so also, can they just drill all of my cavities at once? And I've never had a cavity until 2 yrs ago, so I've never had one drilled: does it hurt really bad? Thanks! :)

I don't have any insurance. I'm trying to find a job, and when I do, I'm going to see if I can get on the State's Basic Health Program, but right now, I'm out of luck.

i am from oregon, and in all my years of being poisoned by dentists in the states, i never knew one who would give and estimate without going in. i do it all day long, have for 5 years. i recommend you go to a biologic dentist and if you need a list of sites to find one in your area, email me. aharleygyrl@icqmail.com
i don't know the prices in the US, but it is generally 1/2 to 3/4 more. we do all the work in one day, but dentists in the US like to do one and two fillings at a time. find a biologic dentist who uses iv conscious sedation. do not let them put any mercury fillings in you.

about sedation:

"I offer conscious IV sedation,
which allows me to finish the
dental work in one appointment."

BIOLOGIC DENTISTRY AND IV SEDATION

Before Conscious IV sedation was used in Biological Dentistry, there was no other choice but to have the patient come into the office as many as 5 or 6 times for treatment.

According to Dr. Hal Huggins, a pioneer researcher of biological dentistry, IV sedation is...[a good] approach for the patient's welfare because...[it will] not interfere with the 7-14-21 day cycle of the immune system. ...this new approach...[allows] for faster recouperation, excellent detoxification,...and [is] less stressful for the patient.

IV sedation is performed by a licensed anesthesiologist (M.D.). ...we use MIDAZOLAM. The risk is minimal with heart and blood pressure being monitored throughout the procedure. ...[It] can last anywhere from 3-6 hours, depending on the amount of work required; But...to...the patient,...[it will seem like] it has only been an hour or less. The patient does not go under. They can talk, use the restroom, and interact and participate throughout the procedure. Some...patients drive home,...although...the patient [may opt to] bring a friend or spouse with them.

Its not bad cavities that is. Although some people cant tolerate pain. Wisdom teeth is a different story. They will put you to sleep with either gas or iv and you can feel pressure while asleep, although you don't feel pain. I had mine done and was frightened. They put me to sleep with an iv and I got all 4 taken out at once. I woke up goofy and pretty much for 2 days slept and did EXACTLY what the doctors told me to do with the gauze and pain medicine. I didnt have any side effects and I could eat regular food within a good week. At first I ate cut up chicken and mashed potatoes, with alot of milkshakes. My ins covered most of it and I still had to pay right at 1000 dollars. Now cavaties they were covered with insurance and I have only had 2 and that was years ago. If you dont take care of your teeth then you have to deal with it. You'll be fine most of the pain is all in your head.

Yeah def wait until you have insurance. And I forgot to add you will have to go to a dentist for the cavaties and an oral surgeon for the other. Cause its actually surgery. Although if you have 10 cavaties there might be some that are so bad you will have to have root canal and thats a whole different ball game. Get a job, get insurance or try to apply for aid from whatever state you live in. Once you have that, find a dentist, they will do a first time check with xrays and stuff and will tell you how you will do things. You are in for alot of dental work but without your teeth you will look funny, cant talk good nor can you eat, so future reference brush brush and floss!

The pain depends on how much you can tolerate. Most of it is in your head. Just suck it up and remember it's not going to kill you! As far as price goes, it depends on where you live. Do you have insurance to help you pay for it? That will make a huge difference. I had one wisdom tooth pulled in the North Suburbs of Chicago, and it cost me $130. Then I got the other 3 pulled and a filling in the South Suburbs and it cost $50. I had the same insurance both times. Guess which dentist I stuck with?

Make an appt with a dentist recommended by your family or friends He'll examine your mouth and talk to you about what he wants to do If he charges more than $100 go to another dentist or to avoid money call the office describe the problem & ask for an estimate however he may have to see you anyway to estimate such extensive work Check out free dental clinics also

Looks like you have work for two..... a general dentist for the cavities and an oral surgeon for the wisdom teeth. Call dentists and obtain a rough quote before going in. After you are seen prices can be firmed up. The general dentist will probably recommend an oral surgeon.

welcome to the club, sis! I hate going to the dentist, but have to go on friday, i was suppose to go yesterday but chickened out. I am paying 124 for the consult, and alot after that i am sure. I cannot afford it, either. I had my wisdom teeth cut out by an oral surgeon about 12 years ago, and I had insurance back then that payed 50%, it still cost me 1200 out of pocket! It didn't hurt, i payed to be put to sleep. I have no insurance, and our state doesn't offer what you are talking about, but I am in horrible pain often for my teeth so i have no choice.
you should try to go, regardless. I tried to deal with my problems for a long time, but they do not go away, they only get worse.
