Theorectically Yes!
Realistically No!

Yes - The majority of a persons body is in fact water weight.
Boxers for example strive to empty their body fluids as much as possible before a weigh in. However after the weigh in they easily gain 10-20 lbs. overnight. Why? Because the weight they gain is primarily water weight. Drinking to much water will cause weight gain.

No - After an individual as consumed copius of H20 the weight that they gain is largely temporary. After you bodies ph level balances out the body tends to lose the weight through urine, sweat, and by digesting food.
Also if a person drinks too much water that leaves little room for the stomach to consume food.
This will cause a person to eat less.
So at first a person will gain weight but will lose more weight overall because the majority of the water weight they gain will be expelled naturally and they will eat less food.

technically yes, because intaking anything will increase your weight. Like, you might drink a lot one day and gain a pound, but it wont keep adding up, you'll just sweat or pee it out lol. But water has 0 calories so long term it wont cause any weight gain.

Also, the amount of water you need in a day depends on how active you are. If your very active your going to need a lot more water than if your sitting on your couch all day. Just drink what you feel u need. Water is very good for you - it cleanses your system, so its good to drink lots to keep everything flowing right.

PS: Some flavored water is 0 calories as well. Just check the label

Drinking water does not cause any weight gain if your kidneys are working properly otherwise retention of water in the body called odema would result and in such a case body will gain weight. Drinking a gallon of water during summer in tropical countries like India is quite normal and in fact suggested and no harm would occur due to this heavy consumption of water.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

I have this leather belt that has five notches on it. It was almost tight on me. It was on the last notch. I could barely breathe. When I would do it up, I could barely do it up. And I remember that belt, because I had it for years, and I used to be able to easily put it on. And that's when I could really see that I was getting a little wider than I wanted to be.
So when I started the program, I was on the last notch. And now that belt with the five notches is way too big for me. I can pull it out to here, and I've saved the belt to remember just how much weight I've lost.

You will gain until you pee it out. Normal people do not retain water. People with weak hearts and kidneys may retain water. This is not fat weight gain as when retaining french fries. One gallon of water in warm weather is not harmful but by simply obeying your natural thirst urge you cannot go wrong.

Drinking water is vital for all major organs. My advice is so that you do not feel bloated is to drink your quota over 24hours not all at once. Avoid salt as salt helps retain fluids. No you won't gain any weight as water does not have any calories.

No fat gain, possibly just water weight. High water consumption actually leads to fat loss
