I have been wondering all day long nobody can answer this. I would really like to know I keep thinking about it

Back up a bit and imagine you and the earth being two objects made of matter (stuff). The scale goes in between you and the earth and measures how much the earth pulls down on you because of gravity- the more matter you are made of, the more gravity pulls down on you and the scale registers a higher weight.
