I am a meat eater and I will tell you now. NO WHERE in the bible does it say it is mandatory. It's a personal choice. They just don't like it because it makes them feel guilty. I don't have that issue about something raised to be eaten. However; I completel respect your right to chose not to eat red meat.

Perhaps, they're referring to Genesis 9:3 wherein it states, "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood."
So their thoughts aren't wrong; biblically speaking, there's nothing wrong with eating animals. On the other hand, Proverbs 12:10 states, " A righteous man regards the life of his beast" so the cruel way in which many animals "are raised and killed" for human consumption is against the Christian code of ethics.
There's supposed to be a balanced way to treat animals. Religious dietary systems such as Halaal and Kosher are attempts to do just that; unfortunately, many people are overindulgent.
I hope this helps. I think it's worthy that you're being conscience of your environment. I tried going vegetarian and it didn't work. Now I try to eat only Halaal. At least, I know the animal didn't die a long horrible death :-\

Do what you think if right. It is healthier to eat vegetables, fruits, and as little animal protean as possible. Read the China Study for further information.
I used to work in the cattle, and poultry feed industry. The garbage and drugs that were fed the animals made me give up eating them. Dried blood meal in hog and cattle feed. Other ground up meat meal, and the antibiotics.
Look around, the obesity is unbelievable and getting worse.
Many food processors are being bought by tobacco companies like RJ Reynolds. Hey if you can't trust the cigarette companies, who can you trust?

You are correct, nowhere in the bible does it say that you can eat animals, but there is a part in the bible that restricts you to what you may eat. You may not eat an animal that does not regurgitate its food and chew it twice then swallow again. Nobody follows that rule I believe, because that means you cant eat fish or shellfish or chicken o.0
im not lying, it is in the bible. so sorry for u

Actually, Jesus followed the Jewish "old testament" way of eating. It was after his death that Paul made the statement that everything that God had put on this earth to eat was clean. Even the Jews an Arabs eat meat if it has been killed properly, with slight pain and suffering to the cow, animal, except pig.

your diet is superior in a medical light only socially and religiously eating meat is accepted behavior in most parts of the world but then again they thought the world was flat too!
Set your example and benefit with better health you can't educate the world and even those who know better as myself will still practice eating animals because we are accustomed to such although I have cut way back for health reasons ...
And I guarantee the chickens I eat are already dead and dont know the difference as do the plants although the latter is still questionable and hence under investigation ...did you realize that they have hooked up electrodes to a plant and killed a fly in the same room ...,and recorded the reaction of the plant...

Yes it is ok to eat meat but no one should push their views on you.
Romans 14:-9
6-9 What's important in all this is that if you keep a holy day, keep it for God's sake; if you eat meat, eat it to the glory of God and thank God for prime rib; if you're a vegetarian, eat vegetables to the glory of God and thank God for broccoli. None of us are permitted to insist on our own way in these matters. It's God we are answerable to—all the way from life to death and everything in between—not each other. That's why Jesus lived and died and then lived again: so that he could be our Master across the entire range of life and death, and free us from the petty tyrannies of each other.

Back somewhere near the beginning of Genesis it says that God gave us animals and plants for food, clothing, and shelter. We aren't suppose to be unnecessarily cruel or deplete a species, but they are here for our use and care. And fish are no different.
