Try this at home.....take a couple of pounds of grapes from the supermarket, crush them up to make juice, store in an earthenware container (what they had 2000 years ago), store at room temp (no refridgeration back then)....wait four days....guess what you have......WINE (6%).....it was alcohol PERIOD!

Source: I've made my own wine from grape for 20 yrs.

to Revulashun.....so let me get this strait, they picked the entire crop for the season.... literley ton's of grapes crushed them and drank hundreds of gallons of 'juice' in three days......or they had magical vines that only beared fruit every few days so they would have a steady supply of 'juice'.......what planet are you from that a vine would produce that way.

Sometimes it was fermented. Large jars were sometimes stored on river and lake bottoms to keep them at refrigerator temperatures. Also I do not believe for one second that when Jesus turned the water into wine, he would make something already rotten. Perhaps that is why they liked it so much better than the first wine, since it didn't taste fermented. I also believe that when Paul recommends a little bit of wine he may have been speaking of fermented wine, however that was due to necessity and staying alive, and not from approval of drinking itself. Does the Bible approve of drinking? No. Did it happen because of the cultural situation? Yes. That is why I do not drink and never will.

You won't be able to convince them because they are stuck in their ways and they won't even try a simple experiment. You don't even need an earthenware container. Just leave a bottle of grape juice sitting out of the fridge for 3 days straight and you'll have the same thing.

Are you drinking the wine you made now? Who said there was no wine? Are they on here now? Must've missed that question. Anyway, there was beer on Noah's ark. The wine that they speak of wasn't Welch's or anything. If people deny alcohol in the bible, I wouldn't be surprised but, it's very much in there. Noah was a drunk and he got his own little story and everything. I guess the so called fundies you speak of don't want people drinking so they turn wine into juice. I guess it's their version of water into wine.

The Holy Spirit was manifested in Jesus works including the wine you speak of.......if all this analytical energy was used to find & develop a relationship with God instead of all the juvenile antics to disprove the Lord......how much more constructive that would be........food for thought....<>< <><

I am a Christian.

Are there really people out there who still claim that the fruit of the vine is simply juice and not alcohol?

They didn't wait four days to drink it.
The text suggests that they drank it immediately.
Maybe 20 years of drinking your wine has affected your reading comprehension.
