i believe we have 2 paths in life a good one with good things along the way or a bad one with bad things... the one we choose is our choice. as for destiny...kinda. i mean god told adam and eve they could freely eat of any fruit in the garden so ...well i guess its kinda like a destiny buffet out there...weird but if you get it its neat to think about! we have tons of choices

i like to believe that destiny exists, that somehow our lives are all predetermined to be fantastic and fulfilled. making a small change in the world can be as simple as smiling at a stranger. just because the contirbutions aren't known worldwide doesn't mean they aren't there. destiny is what god makes of it and i think it's up to us to choose the right paths that will get us there and if we don't choose the correct path, it'll just take longer than we expected. we have to believe that we have a true purpose in life otherwise, it's not so worth living.

Since God is beyond time and space and everything is included in His Knowledge, He encompasses the past, present and future as a single, undivided point. For example: When you are in a room, your view is restricted to the room. But if you look from a higher point, you can see the whole city. As you rise higher and higher, your vision continues to broaden. The Earth, when seen from the moon, appears to be a small blue marble. It is the same with time. So, all time and space are encompassed by God as a single, undivided point, into which the past, present and future are united.

Since all time and space are included in God’s Knowledge as a single point, God recorded everything that will happen until the Day of Judgment. Angels use this record to prepare a smaller record for each individual.

We do not do something because God recorded it; God knew beforehand we would do it and so recorded it.

There are not two destinies: one for the cause, the other for the effect. Destiny is one and relates to the cause and the effect simultaneously. Our free will, which causes our acts, is included in Destiny.

God guides us to good things and actions, and allows and advises us to use our willpower for good. In return, He promises us eternal happiness in Paradise.

We have free will, although we contribute almost nothing to our good acts. Our free will, if not used properly, can destroy us. Therefore we should use it to benefit ourselves by praying to God, so that we may enjoy the blessings of Paradise, a fruit of the chain of good deeds, and attain eternal happiness. Furthermore, we should always seek God’s forgiveness so that we might refrain from evil and be saved from the torments of Hell, a fruit of the accursed chain of evil deeds. Prayer and trusting in God greatly strengthen our inclination toward good, and repentance and seeking God’s forgiveness greatly weaken, even destroy, our inclination toward evil and transgression

Everything we have learned about the universe says it's chaotic. Although there are theories about patterns found in chaos, we know entropy is increasing... everything is going from a state of order to disorder. The universe is expanding, and does not appear as though it will stop, so the "destiny" of the universe would seem to be a cold, lifeless, blackness with zero energy output.

Kind of like what happens to people when they die.

I definitely believe everything happens for a reason. Especially when they seem so bad at the time. Later I see the logic and reason behind what happened. Things usually turn out better in the end.

So, yes, I believe in destiny. And you aren't necessarily chosen to do just one thing. could be many.

I guess from my perspective I don't think that we are destined to do anythng in particular. If God had our lives totally planned so that we would do this one thing (without it being a choice), that would take away the free will part of our belief in him wouldn't it? I think God may have a plan for our life but it is up to us whether or not we fulfill it.

Karma is as simple as that. It is not a complicated theory.
It is very much simple practical truth. Karma is scientific, the same as the Newton's third law of motion, every action has equal and opposite reaction.Bible also says, "As you sow so shall you reap" If someone plants apple trees, one will get apple fruits. Becasue of one's Karma only, somebody is born with diseases, poverty, foolish etc...and suffers because of that. That is the reason why somebody is born with good health, richness intelligence etc... and is happy because of that. It is the misconception people have that God puts one in that condition. The all merciful Lord who is compassionate would be showing partiality to put somebody in misery while somebody is enjoying life happily. By exercising the free will one changes the destiny.

Free-will is what you choose which is limited according to one's karma(action). Pious karma leads to happiness. Impious karma gives misery and suffering. Even while suffering or enjoying one can create fresh good or bad karma and consequently enjoy or suffer. Creating fresh karma is within one's free will. For instance, if one is flying in a airplane from New York to Delhi, the destination is fixed. He can do nothing about changing that karma he created which is going to Delhi. But, he exercise his free will in Airplane and execute some actions like sleeping, reading, watching movie etc. . . which in turn creates another result .

A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) answers the question of John Nordheimer, " Is that preordained, or is it by free choice?

Free choice. What is preordained? You are here of your free choice. If you like, you can sit down and talk with me, and if you don't like, then you can go. That is your free choice. Free choice makes destiny; if I act in goodness, then my future is good. And if I act badly, my future is bad. That is destiny. Man is the architect of his own destiny. If you are educated, your future is nice, and if you remain foolish, then your future is bad. Future destiny depends on present action. This life is an opportunity to make the next life, and if we behave like human beings, then in our next life we will go back home, back to Godhead. But if we behave like animals, then in the next life we will take animal bodies. That's all. All this is very nicely described in Bhagavad-gita. The conclusion is that human beings are meant for understanding God, but if we waste our time understanding dog, and if we become attached to dog, then we will become dogs in our next life. And if we are attached to God, we become like God, in our next life. The choice is ours.
