nervious or not it her health thats more important
no matter what on her condition it is worse for her to eat it. she will survive the assult of no trash. the whole saying no and showing trash thing for items that smell good to her wont work.
higher fence with top, completly block off that area to several feet out from the fenced trash can,. get on wit a locking top or put a bungi cord on it.
oh just thought this up, sry! buy a dog run, the small one and place the trash can in it, get it with a top[

If you really can't keep her away from the trash you can train her not to want to get into the trash. What you need to do is hide nearby where she cant see you. When she goes for the trash scare her by making a loud noise (like banging trash lids together). The best is that she doesn't see it's you doing it.
When you try that a few times she will associate the trash with the scary noise and stay away from it.

Isn't there anywhere else you can put the trash? Further away from where she is - inside a garage or shed until garbage day? If not, buy a large can with a good secure lid. Don't keep her outside without supervision - provide her with other toys, etc. to keep her busy.

Yikes-- If she does not have worms or heart worms.......
first you'll need bug spray, and red peppers.
Spray the outside of your trash can with the bug spray-
the lid, the whole inside and outside of the trash can only.
(After the garbage pickup also.)
Seal the trash bags--use plastic bags (until she has learned to stay away from the trash.) Sprinkle red peppers over
the sealed bags. (they won't hurt her--but hot ) leave lots of water out with her to drink and a dish of dry food away from the trash can area. Try the peppers for
a few days to a week. If she reacts to the bug spray as to stay away from the trash can, as most dogs do, good.
If she does not stay away from the trash after it is sprayed,
Take her to your local vet.

Put a lid on the trash can and make sure it is tight. Dogs have a keen sense of smell and can get into anything it finds interesting.

make useful your trash cans have lids - and use bungie cords over the acceptable (in all probability choose 2) to hold the lids on despite if became over. this may well be awkward - yet greater effective interior the long-term. do no longer shoot on the canines - or you would be able to get a large vet invoice. What you may legally do is to double bag your rubbish, and positioned a chilly water fabrics dye in between the baggage - with a touch water. this may well be innocuous to the canines - yet they'll "paint something they touch - with any luck in her abode. attempt to %. a vivid shade like stunning pink. After her abode turns pink - I doubt you will see them back. you have achieved no longer something incorrect - they could desire to no longer be going on your containers.

I don't know how nervous she is and this may sound cruel, but ,it works! My parents raised dogs all my life.Take some tabasco(or any other spicy sauce)Get some in her mouth(even if you have to hold her down)You will only get one chance so you have to make her hate it,then put about 5 drops on your garbage, she wont touch it,or get a really good heavy duty metal garbage can she cant chew up!(You didn't say what bread of dog you have).

I think the main problem is that the dog is nervous to begin with. Barbara Woodhouse explains how to deal with nervous dogs in the book, "No Bad Dogs", which is a good training resource. I would suggest checking http://www.fish4tips.com for further questions.
