Use Nizoral. it is a shampoo and it is kinda expensive. But it is the only over-the-counter product with 1% of the perscription strength ingredient that is perscribed by a doctor to get rid of serious cases of dandriff. It does wonders and you can see relief in about 3 uses. I have used it for years.

I have HORRIBLE dandruff... the ONLY thing that works for me is a product called Nizoral(Spelling may be a tad off, but that's how it's pronounced).

Nizoral "Works by killing the bacteria that can cause dandruff"... aparantly. I'm not sure if that's true but I DO know that it works like a charm.

You only need to use it once a week after the first few weeks, when you have to use it 2 times a week, more if you're really bad like me.

Sometimes it's not shampoo aisle, sometimes you need to look in the pharmacy area. It's not prescription tho, it's just medicated.

Hope this helps, it helped me!

My husband suffered horribly from dandruff. He went to a dermatologist and this is the advice he was given:

1. Shave head
2. Purchase Nizoral
3. Keep head moisturized with either Pure Vitamin E oil or Pure Tea Tree oil.
4. Use the oils before bedtime and sleep with a shower cap on.

Like I said, this advice was from a dermatologist and my husband followed them word for word - this was over a year ago and he hasn't had a problem with dandruff since.

Use Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Shampoo, or go to Sally Beauty Supply and get the generic brand of it for about half the price. It gets rid of dandruff and smells great and leaves your hair SO nice.

Make sure you wash off all the products that you have used for the day. Also, try using dandruff shampoos.
