Washing or wiping the Hydrogen Peroxide off a wound pretty much makes putting the peroxide on the wound useless. Peroxide not only cleans your wound, but further protects you from infection. And in washing or wiping the peroxide off, unless you are using sterile materials, you could inadvertently be getting more germs in your wound than you had to begin with.

I do, I'm not sure it's mandatory though. I was taught through observation to wash it off, when I was young. My father works in hospitals and he would also rise the wound after using Hydrogen Peroxide.

New studies say that while peroxide is wonderful at killing germs, it is also good at killing the healthy tissue surrounding the wound. Here in the hospital, we rarely use peroxide.....we use betadine now. But in the rare case that we DO use it, we rinse it with sterile water or normal saline afterwards.

No. It is really a wound irrigant. You use is to wash a wound to clean it. It is not toxic to the wound except a small bit of the edge.

Um, probably shouldn't be using peroxide in the first place - betadine or chlorhexidine would be better choices. Make sure you cleanse the wound with water first, though.
