I think you can incorporate several of those and still have a beautiful cohesive room. For instance you could paint the walls a dark shade of blue like the sky at midnight. Paint some white stars on it. (Use a stencil if necessary) You could then paint a roller coaster that is similar to a rocket ship that is climbing up to the ceiling where you have a planetary map and more stars. The path of the rocket/roller coaster could be your signature.

Hey I think you're so far on the right track with knowing what you like that you could potentially base your room makeover on. I think, depending on the size of your room, that you may be able to incorporate almost all of those things. Maybe you could tie it all in together into one giant concept, or have different areas in your room for different concepts.. for instance... one area can have your computer/video games together... keep electronics together...
Blue and white are good colors also, I think it would be a lot easier on your budget (if you have one) as well as your own time (unless you have friends to help, or are hiriing someone to paint) that you might consider a "splash" wall... pick one wall and color it. Light blue, dark blue, sky blue... but not all the walls one color (unless it's light enough to be tolerable, otherwise you may end up not wanting to go into your room because it would be so dark, no?)... OR! Cool idea: stripes! Don't get too crazy though, I mean just like one or two big ones... they look really great. My old apartment used to have that.. dark blue and tan though... Somehow the colors worked together. We used that blue painters tape and put lines down the wall in tape and then painted the rest... and what we covered with tape stayed the color that was under the tape. Nifty. Looked really cool too.
Don't forget to utilize the ceiling. I had those glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling for years when I was younger. It was like a constant project to make galaxies and lots of other cool stuff with the different shaped stars and all. But then also, they burned out fast. The farther away from any light source, the less they glowed in the dark. ... which wasn't necessarily a bad thing because the ones that were right around the light bulb glew ridiculously bright and were kind of distracting when it was bed time.
So if you don't want to be on a chair with your head to the sky putting stars up on the ceiling... perhaps you can look into stencils from the art shop? or make your own... and lay that down and paint your stars that way... that way when you shut off the light they won't be blinding you in the dark... it'd just be something to appreciate in the daytime...
Ikea has PLENTY of good stuff to choose from, especially with those colors... simple rugs, desks and chairs... you name it... and it's pretty inexpensive.
Good luck to you, hope you have fun putting together your new room.
Take it easy,
miR :)

You could use all those things. You can get some posters of cool star clusters, Use an actual bowl ball for an ordanment. Go to a junk yard or somewhere cheap and buy so old small wheels and put photos or pictures in them, then hang or stand them up in your room, Do you have a computer in your room? Posters of your PS2 games. Your bed sheets and curtains can be in different shades of blue and white. There is some ideas to get you thinking.

in my son's room we included everything he has interest in. Baseball, football, his trophies, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, love of history. I thought it would be a mess, instead it's great. You can look at the room and know all about him. Just stick to 3 or 4 basic colors to pull everything together. Don't forget the ceiling and the floor. Have a great light overhead, maybe a dreamcatcher, or a kite on the ceiling. For the floor, rugs of course, a basket of small things, a trash can.

Write down 3 words that come to mind beside each concept and the one that illicits the most positive responses is the theme to go with. keep in mind that you may outgrow an overly themed room in just a couple of years.Have fun and get friends/family to help.
