Are there still passenger liners that cross the ocean particularly the Atlantic or is it mainly by airplane that people "cross the pond" these days?

Of course! There are obviously cruise ships, but there are also "commuter" ships that take people who want to avoid flying across the Atlantic as well as other oceans. Air travel is probably more prevalent, but there is a good number of people who sail too. Hope this helps you! :D

Try the cruises offered by major lines. Some travel around the globe with fares that are a fraction of what you'd pay for air tickets.
