Islam is monotheistic (one god), while Hinduism has many gods and goddesses.
Islam is an extension of Jewish and Christian religious traditions and Muhammad is considered by Muslims to be a prophet alongside figures like Moses and Jesus. Hinduism, on the other hand, does not share common origins with Christianity, Judaism, or Islam.
The primary religious text in Islam is the Quran, which is believed to be the exact words of God, transcribed by Muhammad. Hinduism does not have a single text which is the equivalent of the Quran, but does have various holy texts.
Neither are cults, ignore people that can't handle the notion that not everyone believes in the same things.

1. Common concept of God in Hinduism:
If you ask a common Hindu that how many Gods he believe in, some may say three some may say thirty three, some may say a thousand while some may say thirty three crore i.e. 330 millions. But if you ask this question to a Hindu learned man who is well Versed with the Hindu scriptures, he will reply that the Hindu should actually believe and worship only one God.
2. Difference between Islam and Hinduism is ‘s’
(Everything is ‘God’s’ - everything is ‘God’):
The major difference between the Hindu and the Muslim is that the common Hindu believes in philosophy of Pantheism i.e. everything is God, the tree is God, the sun is God, the moon is God, the snake is God, the monkey is God, the human being is God.
The Muslims believe that everything is God’s. God with and apostrophe ‘s’. Everything belongs to God, the tree belongs to God, the sun belongs to God, the moon belongs to God, monkey belongs to God, the human being belongs to God.
Thus the major difference between the Hindus and the Muslims is the apostrophe ‘s’. The Hindu says everything is God. The Muslim says everything is God’s, God with an apostrophe ‘s’. If we can solve the difference of the apostrophe ‘s’, the Hindus and the Muslims will be united.

When people say that Hinduism has many different gods or goddesses they are completely wrong!
Hinduism believes in one ultimate power which is "god." This god has many different forms which are represented in each different idol of the religion. Think of it this way, each idol is a light bulb and god is the electricity that powers them. Islam believes in the same god as Christians and Jews.
Hinduism is the oldest known and thriving religion on earth while Islam is one of the newest. Hinduism has a cast system based on peoples social class. Where Islam believes everyone is equal.
Islam believes in rescuing people from eternal damnation through their conversion to Islam, where as Hinduism believes in letting the Individual choose his path according to his inner convictions and scale of evolution.
Hinduism believes in reincarnation based on your karma and darhma. They believe that you carry this karma and darma from past lifes, and based on if you were good or bad it will reflect in your present life.
Hinduism also views every other religion as a different form of hiduism. For example, they view Christians as Hindu's but who worship god differently.

Both believe that there is one God. But in Islam, the one God is never depicted and is not said to take on forms, whereas in Hinduism, the one God is said to take on many names and forms.
Both Islam and Hinduism list many names for God. In Islam, there are 99 names, I believe. Hinduism has 1000's of names for God.
Both of them stress a life of devotion to the Divine. In Islam, you have daily prayers (5 times a day), and Hindus do daily pujas (worship). Both have pilgrimages. In Islam, the main pilgrimage is to Mecca, but one may also take a pilgrimage to Medina (but he or she is required to go to Mecca at least once if possible). Hindus have many pilgrimage spots - including the River Ganges, Haridwar, Tirupati, etc.
In Islam, you have tasbih beads which are similar to the mala beads in Hinduism. These are used for reciting the names of God or various mantras.
Both believe that God has sent messengers from time to time to various peoples to reveal to them the truth about religion.
There is much in common between Hinduism and the Sufi traditions of Islam. They both have meditation, and stress a mystical experience of God.
Both frown on consuming alcohol.
In both, you remove your shoes to enter the place of worship.

Muslims are theists... Hindus are polytheists. Both religions are man-made (not divinely inspired) and neither is based on Truth.
