I was outside talking to one of my neighbors (My husband was at work, son at school) well there were some kids outside playing (3-4 years olds) and all of a sudden a girl that lives out from me was walking towards us holding to a kids hand (Boy, 3 yrs) and asked my other neighbor was that her grandson and she said yes.
The girl said there was a man that had the little boy almost in his truck until she hollered at him and he set him back down and she ran to get him. She seen what color truck it was but the grandma and the girl that seen this did not even bother to call the law. (I did but they will not do anything cause i didn't see anything)
All the grandma said to the boy was you know you are not suppose to talk to strangers. Where i lived is a gated community and there is an alley below us and that is where that man was that tried to take that kid.
Even when that child's mom came to get him and heard that she said your going to get a whipping. How dumb you know. Thoughts?

The grandma, mother and the girl that did save the boy did not even bother in calling the law. I do not know what to make of those idiots and the law will not do anything about it unless they report what happened. Is there anything else that i can do? (I called them)
That little boy told me that man said to him "do you want to go for a ride and then he picked him up" , he is 3 and you know he knows no better. No one knows who that man was and i am thinking he could be watching where i live because there are plenty of kids around here outside playing everyday. (Some parents do not watch their kids though)
I am scared that it will finally happen (a kid get missing)
What would you do cause this is bothering me so much.

Good for you for tyring to be a good citizen!
Some action you can take is write a letter to the editor of your local news paper. Most accept editorials by email now, and you can warn other parents that way.
You can also contact the local schools and give them the information and ask them to pass it along.
Also, you could make warning flyers and post them on telephone polls around the neighborhood. You could add the explanation that you are taking that action because the police would not get involved.
A little public spotlight in a problem like this usually fixes it.

I find that incomprehensible! The FIRST thing I would have done after I had rescued that kid would have been to call the police! What IS wrong with those people? And to lecture the kid of all things!
At the very least the police can post a description of this guy, something for people to keep a watch for. They ought to interview everyone who was a possible witness. Is there a Crime Watch in your area? Gated community or not, it sounds like somebody needs to organize one.

I agree with the neighborhood watch idea.Try and organize one and bring it to the attention of your neighbors that there might be a present and immediate threat to their children's safety lurking around in your area. Also see if you can arrange for the children to be taught some self defense.I'm not talking karate just teach them to scream and run if anyone tries to take them and teach them the different tricks a predator will use to get them into their vehicle. Some ask the child if they want to see a puppy and some even say that they were told by their parents to pick them up because their mom and dad have been hurt. They use all kinds of methods to abduct a child,do some research to find out what they are and see if you can somehow organize a way to teach the other children what they are along with your own.About the little boy this almost happened to,why was he allowed to be out by himself unsupervised at the age of 3?Why wasn't anyone watching him?And then he's told after something like this almost happened to him that he's going to get a whipping?I would definitely call child protective services on them if I were you and tell them what happened. That little boy is living in a situation that is unsafe and hostile and he needs protecting. Also be on the look out for anybody cruising your area that just seems to be pointlessly driving around.Whistles are a good way for a child to call for help.Give one to your child around his neck and tell him if anybody tries to get him into a car to blow the whistle while runnig.Bad people don't like attracting attention to themselves and most likely will try to quickly leave.Good luck and be safe.

It sucks but the truth is that there isn't anything you can do but make sure it doesn't happen to your child. You can't be responcible for other peoples children. Other than that keep in mind the kind of car the little girl said the man had and if you see it around call the cops. Thats pretty much it, but it's good to hear that there are still people like myself who care enough to try and find a better way. It just sucks that we can't.

Report that grandmother to child welfare offices. She was clearly neglecting him by not watching him. Also let them know how the childs mother responded. I bet when the confront both of them they may have a change in heart. The girl that saw it happen, talk with her and plead your case. My friends daughter was picked up 8 years ago while she was roller blading in front of her house and thrown into a truck. Her older sister saw it all called 911 and they later found Pamela Butler dead and she had been raped. She was 9 years old. We have a responsibility to society to stop this. Your neighbors are irresponsible. Contact the news stations tell them what happend. I bet they to will confront grandma and mother and neighbor, and won't they look like idiots. God bless you, keep up the good fight.

I would go and talk with the people involved. There are too many kidnappings every where going on. How sad they did not contact the police. My daughther had this almost happen to her and the man who commited the crime is sitting in prison for 30 years. He even knew my daughther and I was not going to stand for this. Please talk to the people and convince them there are too many kids out there and he could take the next kid in the area and how could they live with themselves not reporting it and letting the community watching a little closer.

I would vote that the guy in the truck who attempted to take the child is due for a whipping and to be on an offenders list. That's screwed up. Call Bill O'Reilly, he's always going after child molesters.

Call the police till they get sick of hearing you. Tell them if something does happen to a child they will be responsible for knowing and doing nothing. Tell them you have a child and will not rest until SOMETHING anything is done about this! If they dont help. Call your county police..call your state police...call CPS...call anyone who will listen!

You probably can't do anything about that incident, but you could start a neighborhood watch program to help prevent things in the future. You can get info from your local police department. They will help you organize it, and will come and speak at meetings.

Grandma wasn't watching him in the first place, it's not surprising she wouldn't bother to call the cops. Sounds like a tragedy waiting to happen.
