Because a lot of us christians ARE. It's sad to admit, but we DO have a lot of people that are ignorant of the Bible, self-righteous, hypocrits, and then they go to church on Sunday mornings to preach to everyone else. Yes, pastors are guilty of this too. We have been given such a bad reputation by allowing these types of people to remain as they are in the church, and not taught correctly, and aren't held accountable to be more than a blind, lame sheep.

Is bald a hair color? Is not collecting rocks a hobby? Atheism is the lack of belief, faith, etc. And you're generalizing. And there can't be proof for a negative claim. I don't think all Christians are stupid. However, I can say based on the comments of some, that some certainly are stupid. Also after seeing some of the comments on here - atheism is not the "belief in nothing", nor is it the hatred of gods. Don't confuse atheism with nihilism or maltheism.

Because they haven't met me. Oh wait isn't that self-righteous and arogant!

No really, because a lot of Christians do not really think about their beliefs. They keep a closed-mind. And those who say Christians are stupid have fun putting others down and these Christians are excellent targets for such people.

However, you and I know, that there are many of us Christians who are not in stupid. In fact, that is one of my motivations for using Yahoo! Answers.

Christians reputations are ruined by their extremists just like any religion. These "Christ Warriors" tend to be close minded and force their views/values/bias on innocent people who could care less. They are extremists because they go against the grain of American culture and what is accepted by the average Christian. Average Christians have no problem with accepting scientific views based on scientific research, aka evolution, big bang theory, formation of earth. But then you have the extremists who base everything off their interpretation of the bible and basing science off the bibles is a stupid and narrowminded concept.

The communists once said that religion is a crutch. People can't stand on their own feet without that crutch of faith.
Christians know better. But just like other groups of people, there will always be some who are less educated or less open-minded. It's true of any group of people.

YES pastors are stupid because they don't work, they just beg for money every sunday. they do not know the realities of life and then they will LABEL everything as sin. when stupid pastors preach stupid things & in the name of obedience the congregation will follow.
here are examples
pastors teach that:
money is the root of all evil - stupid: the LOVE of money is...money is a medium of exchange.
SELF is a sin, flesh, selfish - stupid: SELF IS A PERSON...even christ became FLESH. and yet they would ask for money every sunday, twisting the bible that the congregation should give 10%. pastors are lazy, greed, hypocrites, love their title seat that they are CEOs. they would also preach that pastors should be paid well for they preach the gospel. yet they don't present ANY financial statements where did the money go what expense they paid...then pastors would quote verses from the bible to look PIOUS.

pastors should get a job so they can understand what it means to be living. but they treat christianity as a business & the congregation as their employees telling them to volunteer bec. it is free but pastors get paid well with benefits when they preach the gospel...STUPID HYPOCRITES.

Okay---I would never say a person who is Christian is stupid--I consider myself Christian--but-------------because I don't go every Sunday to a huge brick building to pray, and because I don't hand over monies to support that big brick building the people who do tend to look down on me (I call that self- righteous). Apparently, my little Sunday morning of standing outside in my woods and thanking the Good Lord for what I have doesn't count unless I'm dressed, in that big fancy building, handing over my money!! I prefer to do it quietly--help the elderly lady on the farm 20 acres over, take care of the critters that gather around the backdoor, love and care for my family-----I think that's the basis of Christianity----

Read their answers on this website. They are not very logical. Yet, they all take the answers as being true. Maybe your churches should offer logic classes and other classes that would raise the education level of the constituents, allowing them to interact with people who have not been brain-washed. Maybe then, you could come up with more plausible explanations and answers to people's questions.

Or you could just talk to people that are brain-washed into believing the same way you do. Then, you would never have to worry about people seeing through your lack of intelligence.

Why do you care what I think, anyway? What makes my opinion so important?

Because sadly, many non-Christians are more educated on the Bible than most professing Christians. True, there are many Christians who are well educated in their religion as well as many others, who do not condemn and judge others. But I must say that the more vocal of the faith tend to be the most ignorant.

Blessed Be!
