Most people dress up under the gown, because they are going straight to an after grad party after the ceremony, some because it is a momentous occasion deserving of a little dressing up.
Just keep the weather and the fact that you will have a gown on over it in mind. You do not want to be reaching under the gown to pull or tug at something, or sweating because you chose a suit with a blouse, find something wrinkle resistant, too, since you won't be able to straighten your skirt when you sit.
A cute sleeveless "little black dress" would be great, keep it a little on the modest side, to avoid scandalizing the professors, LOL. A pair of nice black heels, not too high, you do not want to be "the one who fell" [there is one in every class, just don't let it be you].
By the way, these are the same professors who you may be calling on to give you a job referral, very soon. Best see that you do indeed look nice.
Resist the urge to wear cutoff jeans, and a t-shirt. Your parents/husband will be taking pictures, and 40 years from now, there you will be, looking at the pictures with your grand kids, explaining why you looked like a reject from the 1960's at your Master's degree ceremony. LOL
Oh, good luck, relax, and have a good time, and congrats on your degree!

Depends entirey on what you are doing after the graduation.

Congratulations. You have achieved much one word at a time. Lots of work.

Wear what would be appropriate for what you are doing afterward. Nice casual clothes a bit dressy for going out for dinner (hope your parents are sharing in this right of passage).

Just make sure that nothing is seen pooking under or around the gown for the graduation ceremony, not acceptable.

Have a good time, you will never forget it. Good for you girl!!

I would say a dress of some sort and a nice pair of heels that you have the ability to walk in. The dress could be business casual/work wear or a sundress. Since, you are probably wearing a cap and gown, I might go for the sundress. It's a special day and you will probably want to wear something cute and fun, rather then stuffy and overly professional.

Check your university regulations. Presumably you know what gown, hood and cap you need to wear. Often there are rules about what to wear underneath (some places request white tie, or girls needing to wear a white blouse covering their arms, or national dress; other places just expect something like a dark suit for men, white shirt and a tie (only wear white tie if this is uni regulation, otherwise it might be black tie or normal tie (dark).

Girls usually wear a white blouse and black skirt. Men usually wear white shirt, dark suit and tie of some sort. It should be smart and subdued. Usually formal national wear is permitted. In Scotland you would wear the full Prince Charlie rather than an Argyll.

I wore a simple dress under my gown. A pant suit would look nice, too. If you wear a dress, make sure it doesn't reach below your gown or it'll look weird.
