I ask because of watching the animal planet channel. Seeing people attacked by lions, alligators and great white sharks has me wondering. Why God created them and what their purpose on earth is. Thanks for your answers and God bless you.

You will get three answers to this question:

1) God didn't create animals TO kill people. He instructed man to rule over animals (Adam is often depicted as walking with dangerous beasts), but because of original sin, animals became vicious, dangerous creatures, capable of harming us, and so we have to be wary of this danger, like all other dangers.

2) God uses animals kill people to teach us lessons about life & death, or to bring a soul into heaven that god wants, or to teach the families of the dead person how to overcome tragedy.

3) Animals were not created by god because god does not exist. They are a natural feature of nature and evolution on our planet, and the encounters with man are random events with no ulterior meanings.

Take your pick.

There is no God involved from my point of view... to me we are just food, like any other creature on this planet. Why should we be exempt from the food chain? I'd rather be eaten by a wild animal than murdered for no good reason by another human.... at least an animal would be doing it for a good reason and if it helps them survive and bring more of their kind into the world well then I guess my death and life will have served its purpose in Nature. It makes me angry when people want to kill animals that eat humans.. they should be left alone and if people get eaten oh well then they shouldnt go near those animals... we eat them why cant they eat us? How many bears you know come do a revenge killing of humans for killing and eating another bear? Yeah well thats because bears arent as narcissistic as the human race..

To keep us on our toes! God is very creative to say the least.
He probably held back in ways we'll never know. When he created them, they were not killers. They (and we) became killers only after the Fall when man chose to disobey God, and sin (in all its forms) came into the world.

When man sinned in the Garden of Eden, the earth was cursed by God as punishment for mans' sin just as pain, sorrow, disease, pestilences, death, etc are all punishment for mans' sins - that is why there are wild animals and the reason for their nature to attack and even kill people. Also, man is also partially to blame for being killed by wild animals because they are either careless, negligent or just plain ignorant to the fact that many wild animals are not for us to keep as pets or to trust them the same as we trust pets. Genesis 3:17 - And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened utno the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.
