You should work on your cardio. Start by walking or jogging daily. That will get your endurance up. Use a treadmill or eliptical trainer to get your lungs and heart working instead of just your muscles. Hope this helps.

Your not really that over weight for your height. Clinically you would be considered over weight but not bye much. You should just start out slow, and work your way up, a great way is a tread mill or and elliptical machine. I feel free weights work better than machines. It just takes time, don't try to rush things. You will build better strength and endurance doing it slow, and you wont run a higher risk of hurting yourself.

I do a combination of both. I got on the elliptical for cardio do it about 30 minutes, then I go on the tread mill, one a very low speed, but with the highest incline. And I use free weights at home. I also do ballet, but I don't think you want to do that.

Just work at it. Don't push too hard.

Actually for your height you are not considered over weight... As for building your endurance... I would suggest using periodization as a method to do your running. By this I mean to do your running in different ways...I.e.

For 2 days try running long distance...As much as you can..
Then rest for one day. Also, make sure you stretch everyday before and after to avoid a lot of sorness..The next 2 days run a series of sprints for about 40 yards. Then rest another day...Then the next 2 days run sprints and then walk for about 50 to 80 yards then sprint again....keep doing this and u should build up your endurance in no time.

run and walk
walk for five minutes
run for two
walk for five

do this until you reach a mile then add on an extra 30 seconds for each run
