My throat hurts and I have some coughing. I also have mucus in my throat (I am not sure if that's what its called, but you probably know what I mean). I have had the "mucus" and sudden coughings for three weeks already. Any good medication to buy? What could it be?

i belief in hydrotherapy. Drink plenty of hot water. If the mucus looks yellowish/ greenish that indicate you need an antibiotic from doctor. Get your sore throat resolve asap. Sore throat may sound like a tame disease but could be harmful too.

Drink a lot of water. That loosens up all the phlegm (mucus) that is clogging you up. Get some vitamin C drops to suck on and some Vitamin C tablets to take. You should gargle with warm salty water 3x a day. Drink orange juice or eat red and yellow bell peppers. Dring peppermint herbal tea with lemon, sweetened with honey. Get some ecanacea tablets to take. If your throat is really really sore, you can east the pain instantly by using some warm salty water in a rubber baby syringe with a rounded tip. Lean over the sink and squirt it gently and slowly into your nose while softly blowing out. That will clean all the germs in your sinuses out and relieve pressure. You'll have to blow your nose quite a bit right after that. Then you get instant relief. Coughs can linger on. If you have it too long, see your doctor. If the phlegm is thick and green or yellow, you have an infection, so at least call your doctor.

Do you have a fever above 101? If you do go to the hospital. If you don't then buy some theracold or theraflu and some Nyquil plus some Halls cough drops and go to bed for a few days. Drink lots of healthy liquids. Note to DN: there is a pneumonia vaccination. You might be a good candidate for that.

First: quit smoking!
Second: see a doctor.
Third: if you don't want to see a doctor, there is a product called Throat Coat. It's a tea that tastes like black licorice (pretty horrid), but really works well. A cup or two a day will help ease the pain. Find it a health food store.

Good luck. (See a doctor!)

For instant relieving of sore throat eat Lozenges (you can buy at any pharmacy)--> there are two brands that i usually consume: Strepsils and Robituisin

Drink lots of water & fruit juices like watermelon, pear, etc. Reduce eating too much fried & heaty foods.

If it doesn't help, you may need to see doctor to prescribe antibiotics & flu-cough medicines

You are slow in recovering bcz your antibody is not strong enough to self-cured.

Gargle with mouthwash or salt water.

Musinex is good for coughing and getting rid of mucus in your lungs.

What color is the mucus. If it is green--you have a bacterial infection. If it is clear, you have an allergy. If it is yellow--it is a viral infection.

All you got to do is simply drink more water... 12 to 15 glasses of water a day. Then, NO to carbonated drinks, spicy, salty, fatty and nutty food. Also, do not eat chocolates, sweets and food with preservatives. EAT MORE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS. You can also drink a cup of tomato sauce after dinner.

Hope these will help you. Have a nice day and take care :)

Sounds like alergies to me.Gargle your throat in salt water warm. Use one of those Robitussins that is good for alergies. If that doesnt work go to your Doctor ASAP. Dont worry yourself to death over this. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
