I had my Pit Bull's ears cropped on March 1st (2 weeks ago), and he had to wear an E-collar for one week until the stitches got removed. I went to Petsmart and had an associate try one on him, and they picked out a large one and said it fit fine. Well, after his surgery, the collar rested on one of his ears because he kept moving the collar. When we removed it last week (9th of March), one of his ears were leaning from where the collar rested. How do I fix this problem, or will it correct itself. One ear sticks up perfect, and the other appears to look like it's leaning against the base of his skull almost. I can send a picture if needed.

Ok, to fine tune things, my Pit Bull is 16 weeks old as of 16 March 07. And as for the morons who think an E-Collar is an electric collar, do some research. It's an "Elizabeth collar", since it resembles what the queen used to wear. It's a funnel shped cone to prevent them from scratching their ear duting healing.

I hate crops bc sometimes some ears are just stubborn....
How old is your pup? it may be too late now, but they needed to be posted, E-collars don't really help shaping the ear well. Cropping requires more skill from the vet than your average surgery.... (I hate crops) Ask your vet, he may want to tape (aka post) the ears. If he says no, it may be bc the pup is too old already.... but you can always try see if the shape improves some
To post the ears basically find a cup or something about the width of the pup's head and tape the ears using tongue depressors in the upright position.... but crop done 2 weeks ago.... sounds like the ear already learned that shape and it may be too late now. (I hate crops)
Did I mention I hate crops?
A question about the proper age for ear crops was done not long ago, you may want to check the age guidelines and see if your pit still falls under the age, just to have an idea of how good odds of it standing upright (link below)
(and please, DONT SUE, ppl like crazy girl only makes our insurance go UP, therefore your vet care costs also goes UP)

This is just a personal opinion, but I would say that, as long as it's not really horrible, don't have it redone. There's this doberman next door to me, and the ears were redone like 4 times, the poor pup seemed miserable...I'm a golden owner though, so I don't know very much about the cropping process. And I'm guessing that by e-collar you mean Elizabethan collar (satellite dish, as I like to call it), not an electric collar as one answer said.

Your first mistake was having a Pits ears cropped....They arent actually a dog that would need it done. I know alot of people do it, but this is what sometimes happens, the cropping took too much of the dogs ear cartiledge structure and now you got yourself a pit with funny looking ears. The vet or whomever, probably should have told you not to do a pit. Sorry to hear about that.

My goodness... my son had his am pitbulls ears cropped too.. (says never again).. Why an electric collor for goodness sake??? That is strange to say the least... It is not the vets fault it is your mistake...
I don't expect *best answer* from you but you need to take some responsibility as you are the owner and make the decisions ...

Sorry, but this is really one of the reasons I always recommend not to crop.
