Can they cause ingrown hairs?

depends on the person. when i use nair, it lasts as long as shaving. (it dissolves hair, doesnt get it at the root like waxing.) the good part, though, is it won't really irritate like shaving.

but--if you've got lots of hair or really thick stubble, it may not get all of it or any of it, and you might have to shave anyway to get the spots it missed.

Yes, depilatories do work, i have used them with great success before, they last on average (for me at least), two weeks. They do not cause ingrown hairs.

I have tried Nair and it irritated my skin and I got ingrown hair right away. It did not have a good effect for any of the time.

Yes they work but they can be time consuming and sting. They last for about a week or so....
