My husband is Army Reserve and is being deployed. They didnt tell us where, when, or how long. What is the normal tour length for reserve?

normal is a year...but in today's day and age (iraq and afghanistan) dont be surprised if he's gone longer.

and when he comes back...they want him to do another deployment within a year. it's real tough.

When he gets his actual papers it will tell you how long he will be gone.

When the war started it was a year, but there wern't enough troops to make that work, so now it is "a year, "boots on the ground"... which means 18 months give or take. You spend three or four months getting trained up, then a year in Fubaristan, then a couple of months coming home and cleaning up the gear and getting reintegrated into society.

My son in law is in the reserves and he is gone for one year, but two of his buddies that went at the same time are gone for 18 months. His paper work will tell him he just has to read it.
