My school told me to never write on the back of a sheet of paper instead I have to get a new one.I don't think that is a smart thing to do.I think I should just write on the back of a sheet of paper rather than wasting a new one.I feel like they should just let me right on the back.Plus why are schools so picky?

30,000 children die every day around the world due to hunger. How about taking up a cause that is worthwhile?

you are told not to write on the back of the sheet of paper because using pens often times the imprint from the first piece of paper shows on the back of it as well, making it more difficult and not so easy to read. It is the excepted way to write on only the front of the paper, your school is only trying to enforce the proper way. (I'm not sure if this is true but it seems a valid point to me, when you get into business and such you only can really print on the front of the piece of paper..... again with the accepted and proper format)

Well, if it's the teacher's specifications for how your homework is to look, then there's not a lot you can do about it. They may have their reasons, For instance, some papers are kind of thin, and some inks can soak right through, and make it pretty hard to read if you used both sides. But if it's in your notebook and nobody's going to see it but you, you could argue that as your ecologically sound paper use will not offend anyone else you should be allowed to persist.

But I have had teachers, and later professors, insist on what font to use, what color ink is to be in your notebook in which section, etc. Really, there's nothing you can do. There are better things to worry about.

I'll have to agree with you on that. I really don't know why some instructors have that rule. It's not like it is some important legal document. You are right, it is just a waste of paper and with the need for conservation and recycling it would make more sense to use both sides. I doubt you will be able to change their rule, but you make more sense than they do. If you do find out why, I'm curious to know, so please e-mail and tell me.
I was a teacher, never had that rule and know no logical reason for it

Some prefer to write at the back while some prefer to write on a new piece of paper. Your school maybe picky because some pen inks are thick that it smudges to the back of the paper. Or maybe its much neater to write on a new piece of paper. =)

Thats pretty much the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Seriously, who has the time to worry about if you use the back of your paper or not? Tell them to get a life! haha. You are wasting a lot of paper that way. This world is getting stranger everyday!
-For the person who said it wasn't intended for you to write on the back of your paper, Then why are there lines on the back.....hmmm.....???

I agree, it is silly to waste paper in that manner. I have to shell out pads of paper to my son every other week because he goes through it so fast. I think the schools have become way to picky....here the children are not allowed to talk in the lunch room, hallway or bathroom.

some teachers ask you to write on only one side of the paper when you are writting a report , otherwise its just a waste of paper. Talk to your teachers and principal , let them know how you feel about this and make them realize that what they are doing is wrong , that they are just killing more trees and that we are suppose to save not waste.

this is a new time and a new ERA. before recycling writing on the back of your notebook paper was alright. these day's schools are preparing students for college and in college you don't write on the back of your paper...... it's more professional, and when you enter college you'll see what I'm talking about. learn now so it won't be so difficult later

I don't understand their reluctance to let you write on the back of your own paper. They ought to be glad that you're writing anything, that's more than most in class are doing. I don't see why you should waste paper either, especially if you're paying for it.

I agree with you on this one.

Because if you press down really hard when you write, then it's impossible to read the paper if both sides are writtin on. And the teachers don't want to single out only the kids who press hard so they make the whole class do it.

Seriously, if you can't afford a little bit of extra paper every here or there then just ask a friend for a piece, sheesh.
