Technically, he might be correct. Every tour length is defined by the Department of Defense. Typically, an unaccompanied tour is a year less than an accompanied tour of duty. For example, I'm married, and I had a tour in Naples, Italy. My wife was going to school at the time, so she stayed in the states, and my tour was two years long. My next tour, in Japan, was originally two years long as well, since it was an unaccompanied tour, but my wife and daughter are now coming out there with me, so I had to extend for a three year tour.

Most of the time, however, if someone is in mid tour, gets married, and the spouse is already at the location, they won't make you extend. Each case though is evaluated on its merits.

However, since your fiance looks like he's pretty close to the end of his tour, I would bet that he will not be forced to extend.

I will caution you, however - if he gets his orders before you two are married, he will need to get an "Order Modification" in order to add funds to those orders to allow you to go back to the states with him! Remember that key point, because since you're coming from overseas back to the states, they have to specify that transfer is authorized for the servicemember *AND* dependants, otherwise, you're paying for your own ticket.

Good luck, and congratulations!

the first thing you need to know is you are just his second wife. the army will be his first. they do what they want, how and when
i think they wont let him stay in germany longer because you are already in germany. if you would have to come to his duty station (country) it would be different. then he probably would have to stay longer.
and sorry to tell you this but...what you both planned doesnt matter for the army...

Being married to you will not affect his orders unless he specifically asks for a COT or the needs of the Army changes.

Wilkommen to the Army family! we loved Germany!!

Your marriage will likely not affect his deployment. More than likely, when you two get married and it is time for him to go back, you will both be on a plane, heading to a lovely life together. Welcome to the United States, I hope you come to love this country as much as I do.

The military can keep him there until his time is done. Then let him out. It has nothing to do with your marriage.
