Dead. I work in the mental health field. There are very few pedophiles who can be rehabilitated. Most commit their crimes again once they are "reprimanded" by the law. And I don't mean a 17 year-old who has consensual sex with a 15 year-old, that's just ridiculous. These people will continue to prey on children as long as they know their punishment is light. They are a huge part of the reason I support the death penalty. Or at least the state should do as Maria said and make the punishment fit the crime, a thousand times over.
I am all for them being locked up without the possibility of parole, but I would just as soon see them receiving a lethal injection. Death is what scares them most. I know how horrible this sounds coming from a mental health professional, but I've seen it far too many times. For those who can prove childhood abuse has left them utterly mentally deprived, prison without parole. For those who are clinically retarded - life in a psychiatric hospital. And for those who are just evil... an ultimate end to their journey here on earth.
*Joe* - She said "child predator", not "sex offender". Obviously, I do not mean people who urinate behind a building should be put to death. I'm talking about child predators - repeat molesters and rapists and the like convicted of their crime in a court of law; of course there needs to be proof and a proper trial. A child predator is not someone who can't find a place to pee and goes in the bushes. I am simply shocked that you feel the "stigma" attached to molesting a child 'in the family' is more punishment than the molester deserves. This is about the CHILD, not the bastard who raped him or her.

A person who preys upon an innocent child and all children are innocent, is the worst type of predator imaginable.Just think about the damage that was done and how it will affect the child for the rest of their life.For some or most their life is completly ruined,it's like a death in itself that never goes away.Their belief that life is good is completly stripped away leaving them with the feeling that life for them is already over.Not to mention the physical dammage that they suffer which will be with them and hurt them as long as they live.For someone who does this I only think about the child not the person who did it.The predator shouldn't be given any concideration as to what's best for his welfare at all and mercy and forgiveness should neither apply to them at all.Instead I think the best thing to do is to just simply send them to God for judgement.And I think a close family member to his victem should be the one to send him or her there by whatever means necessary to end the predators life.This will ensure that no other child will ever suffer at the hands of that predator and I'm with the first strike 'YOUR OUT'!A second chance should never enter our minds.We need to protect our children and think about them only.

Seriously no matter what we do to them it is not going to change what they all ready did to a child. They should have no rights again ever! I cant believe they let them out and say they are better and wont do it again No! their life is over and they should never be let out. The child they did this to is in prison from the attack for the rest of their life.

As a sexual abuse survivor (as a child, by a family member) I can say that our justice system is messed up. My molester did not, and will not, serve a day in jail because of what he did to me, and do you want to know why? Statute of limitations. I was 7 when I was molested but my mind blocked out the memory until I was 12 years old, when he tried to do it again. I was past the statute of limitations so I couldn't press charges (or my parents couldn't for me.) My molester ended up going to jail for molesting his sister, but he was paroled for good behavior. He broke parole and is back in jail, now for a longer time for trying to break out of the county jail by putting Vaseline on his head and trying to squeeze through the bars. He has served LONGER for that than he did for molesting his sister. I don't think we're going to see any real changes or rehabilitation in our sexual deviants until we start to drive it home that rape and molestation is NOT acceptable, at ANY age. Why does a man who rapes an old lady get more time than a man who rapes an infant? Why does a man who rapes an old lady get more time than a man who rapes a child? Why does a man who molests an old lady get more time than a man who rapes and kills a child? Our society is completely ageist and it sucks!
Personally, I don't believe in persecuting child predators, I truly don't. They are forced to register and live with the staring eyes of those around them for the rest of their lives. I don't believe in making anyone's life any harder than it has to be. We need to make laws more rigid for those child predators that are on the outside. Probation for life, registration for life. People should be able to go to one site, for free, and tell where there's a child predator living amongst them.
We need to reform our justice system before we can reform our prisoners.

Do you know the definition of the word PREDATOR .It is an organism that lives by preying on other organisms( in this case our CHILDREN)
These sick bastards are everywhere ,and who cares who you blame ..the children are the ones getting hurt.

No matter how much we protect our children there are ways for these wastes of skin to get to them ...Children are being taken from their bedrooms in the middle of the night for crying out loud ..is it the parents fault for not sleeping beside their beds ??!! The parents are not to blame ...These sick ,demented pieces of **** are !Let's put the blame where blame is due and stop blaming the victims .Which in my opinion are the innocent children AND their parents.I would LOVE to say let's put them in population in prison and let the inmates tear their a**holes apart , or worse .But our only hope is for lethal injection.(which is too good for them!)

What is wrong with you people? You're endorsing killing, torture, etc because of a LABEL....
Hate to see what you'd do to somebody called a terrorist.....sheesh.
Child predators should be dealt with according to what they specifically did and what their likelihood of a repeat offense is. Considering you can be charged and registered as a sex offender for urinating in public I'm not sure I endorse the wholesale killing and mutilation of all of them....and since nobody wants them to live in their neighborhoods they really can't live anywhere.
Statistically, sexual abuse almost always happens in the family....and considering the incredible stigma that goes with it nowadays it probably gets hidden in families more often. Otherwise they can never be part of the family again.
Maybe that's why everyone is looking for the boogeyman....

Child predators should be.. Watched keenly for.
You people forget that the reason predators often get children and adolescents is due to the fact that parents aren't watching their children closely enough.
YES you are busy and can't always be watching your kids. Well, to be honest I have no pity for you -- and I take no excuses. I don't blame predators or children. I blame parents for allowing it to occur.
Nah, you can't stop it from happening if a stranger randomly abducts them from the mall bathroom.
But that's not what usually happens, what happens is it's someone you trust -- someone you know. Or it's someone you can't physically see -- online. Both of which could have been prevented if you took some simple steps.
Inform your children. And watch your children with utter awareness.
Stop blaming pedophiles and wanting to murder pedophiles.
A parent like you probably let the pedophile be sexually abused.. and hence they become such.
They have an illness and need permanent help.. maybe permanent jail.. but you can't just kill them for a sickness.
What's your excuse?
P.S. I'm a sexual abuse survivor -- so don't thumbs me down thanks. I blame my parents utter unawareness and their lack of informing me.

Locked up forever or killed by lethal injection!!!!!These people are sick and most re offend-despite the rules to be placed on the registered list they still are given way too much slack-We need to have the punishment suit the crime here and save our kids from sick freaks like these.
