Make sure you eat plenty of veggies (especially dark green ones like spinach and broccoli), and try to cut down on sugar and white flour.
Get at least 20 minutes of daily exercise -- it increases circulation, and will help get rid of toxins. The sweat also cleanses your skin.
Do a facial at least once or twice a week. Plain oatmeal is a time-honored mask. I like one made of 1 tsp. each of oatmeal, almonds, honey and olive oil. Clay masks are also good.
Spot-check zits with hot bags of chamomile tea. Or try tea-tree oil or lavender oil (be sure to test inside your elbow first -- if your skin turns red, don't put it on your face!).
Be sure to cleanse twice a day. Plain soap should be fine, but over-the-counter soaps for oily skin, acned skin or whatever special conditions your skin has should be good, too. You can also ask the fancy make-up counters if you can buy a sample-size to try at home. You might get them for free, even.
Hope that helps -- it takes time, but if you pay attention to what you are doing, you can tell what brings on acne, and what helps prevent it. Good luck!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.
In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.
Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.
In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.
If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

This is the best honey facial mask recipe!!! It works incredibly well :p

Raw honey works wonders because not only is it natural, but it has anti-bacterial properties that works just as good and probably better than any lab-made cream in the market. I Highly recommend honey facial masks.
How do I get rid of zits and pimples WITHOUT any treatments or special things like poractive!!??!?

I've heard and tried toothpaste. It worked for me most of the time but not all the time. Wash your face with hottish water and then dry it. Get some toothpaste onto your finger and rub it in (slightly harder on the sore spots). Sleep with it in and then wash it out with cold water in the morning. Do this every night for about 2 or 3 nights and you should see a difference. - Wash your face after sweating, as the grease that builds up causes the zits. - Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of healthy food. - Don't wear much make-up. If you do wear a lot, make sure you wash it off properly after. - Try to keep your hair off your face and also wash hair regularly. - Change your pillow case every 2 or 3 nights. I've also heard of salt water, vinegar, and non oily creams. Hope this helps x

First, scrub your face with alot of salt mixed with a bit of water, this will remove excess oils and dirt within your pores.
After a few days of this, your skin will become fairly drier, and pimples will dry up.
Now, apply a thick mask of pure honey to your face for 2-3 minutes every night. this removes oils without drying out your skin.
You can also try to put either fresh cut aloe or cut ginger over your zits, and hold for a couple minutes. It zaps them clean!

for some ppl the shelf products will not work. sometimes you have to take care of the problem from the inside 1st. you can have an infection under the skin where the pimples are that you can't see and the only way to get rid of it is with an antibotic for your doc. after that is is taken care of, then the doc can prescribe a gel for the outside. they key for the outside is benzoil.

my great-grandma swore that when she was a teenager, she did not have all "those fancy" and "expensive acne treatments", so she said that she used to put 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar in a cup of water and drink it daily. and she was born in 1909 so they did not have proactiv back then and she said it worked, and it must have, because her skin in her pictures is gorgeous and she had no acne scars and she still swears by it.
