Go for silk flowers. I did it because I was getting married away from home and having a reception back home and didn't want to get 2 sets of flowers. Best part...my dad made me a cool shadowbox where I can still see my beautiful flowers.

I would put white roses, stephonitis, star gaziers and a beautiful white center orchid, with cascading ivy. Why is the bridal party wearing black, when there are so many beautiful colors. But it is your wedding, and it is your choice. Best of Luck. You can place bouquet in a cool place tied and hung upside down.

Star gazers are beautiful - I think orchids are too delicate for a bouquet. So like, your colour is black.... how sad....

I went for silk. I have made bouquets out of them for my new house. And I am also going to leave some on my great grandparents gravestones.

red roses will totally stand out with the black dresses. or try red tulips. For your bridesmaids it would look really good to have like 4 white roses surrounded with red roses in their bouquets. or if you want to do the tulips do it along side cala lillies and just cary them wraped in ribbons. star gaziers are so original, id try something new. but i would most diffently go for red and white.

Go for a mix of the two. To preserve them hanging them upside down in a very dry place that is cold helps. Or you can freeze them. If you freze them they must remain frozen forever pretty much or they will fall apart. hanging them and letting them dry they will be preserved better though the color will likely fade a little. they never stay fresh and green regardless.

If you have a wedding planner, ask their opinion on it. Or ask your friends or family. If you don't like their suggestions then just do what you think you should do. After all, it is your wedding!
