As dogs age, they slow down in alot of ways, sleep more, play less, eat less. Maybe he is tired of the food you are giving him. We also have a toy poodle, and for years she has been eating fat-free boloney for breakfast, now all of a sudden she doesn't like it. Their tastes do change. You didn't say what you feed him. Try browning some ground beef and mix it with some cooked white or brown rice, and see if he likes it. If so, the next time you feed him, try mixing what you normally feed him with the beef. Or you can get chicken leg quarters, and boil them (which is what I do), and mix the chopped chicken in with his food. Just be very careful to debone it very good!! Did something in your life change recently? Like a new pet in the house, or did you move, or maybe you're not home as much? It could be a depression of some kind due to a change in the household. Best of luck to you.

Did they check his teeth?? Bad teeth really affect eating!! What are you feeding him? My 15 year old lab is pretty much toothless (years of carrying logs he found in the woods and brought home!!) so he gets ground meat and cooked veggies. I found a great canned food - "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover". The label looks just like the book cover and it's a great canned food, and not really that expensive . I don't know how extensive of a check he had--but a 12 year old toy should have many more years! Best of Luck!!!

When birds are about to pass away, they stop eating and go into hiding. 12 years old is a long life for your dog. Perhaps it's time and he's getting ready to pass. Animals have a sense about it and pick the time. It's natural. Watch him. Hopefully he is just sick of the same old food. Good luck.

those people are retarded. 12 isn't to old for a little dog (they tend to live longer than big dogs) maybe he's tired of the same food all the time or something....? is he a picky eater? or maybe there's something wrong with his teeth it happened to my older chihuahua. get him a blood test just in case it's something more serious
