None of the grocery stores in my local area sell them and I have checked whole foods as well as a couple of other health food stores and have ahd no luck. I was hoping to find a place that I could just go buy them from instead of mail ordering. Thanks for all you great advise in advance

Hazelnuts are also known as Filberts... maybe they're under that name?

They are usually found in the baking asile with the other baking nuts. If you can't find them there, you can also try specialty bake stores. There you will find them raw (unroasted), roasted, chopped, whole, or any other way you could think of.
