ok when i first became pregnant i smoked up until about the 3rd or 4th month then i stopped. well i took a couple drags off of bfs cigs but not a full one, now i am breastfeeding and really feel the urge to smoke again. is it safer to have maybe 1-2 cigs a day as long as im not going to be breastfeeding right after?

No No No. even after smoking up to 3-4 hours before breast feeding you will still smell horrable and also your breast milk will taste like the nicotine from the cigs. do you really want to be feeding that to your baby? your best bet is either to stop breast feeding or stop smoking!!! i would choose the latter of the too and choose a healthy start for your baby. and remember that the breast is the best thing for baby. youve already did harm to your little ones lungs just by smoking in the early months

Not that it's a good thing, but, I smoked throughout both my pregnancies.....sometimes people do not realize when you are addicted to nicotine - the stress is going to make things worse. Babies can sense the stress in you. I don't know about breast feeding though. I bottle-fed my babies. I am happy to say that I have two very healthy children (15yrs and 10yrs) I don't see how smoking 1 or 2 cigs a day would hurt! Good luck!
