I have a job offer for jeddah but im a bit hesitant to accept it, coz from the stories ive heard, it's not safe there. is it somehow true? plz help out, i need all the honest answers for me to decide well. thanks.

Saudi Arabia has the lowest crime rates in the world.
Any danger in Jeddah, will also be a danger anywhere else.

Jeddah is safe! I've noticed there are misconceptions abroad about how safe it is...It kiiiind of depends on where you hang out but my friends and I feel completely safe staying out after midnight (and I'm a girl) which is something I wouldn't feel as safe doing in the UK! But I'm talking about certain parts of Jeddah, other parts of the country are very different. If you mean would anyone give you grief because you're Canadian then I don't think so at all. There are quite a lot of Americans in Jeddah. In general the people are friendly (even though they may not look it, I don't think they can help that their facial expressions aren't very friendly lol but we are a friendly and welcoming bunch). (You can get American TV shows in Saudi, no problem, so I don't know what the guy above is talking about) The atmosphere in general is very chilled, there are TONS of beach resorts (if you're into water sports, diving, that kind of stuff) the shopping is fantastic, there are tons of great restaurants and the people are very relaxed.

I am British & have been living in Jeddah for over 5 years now, and I could honestly tell you that it is very safe there.
Crime rates in Saudi are very low due to strict laws.
and you will be really surprised by how modern & clean Jeddah is.
There are alot of foreigners living in Jeddah, and mostly all of them live in compounds that are under high security.
you're only concern about it will be the high temp. & humidity in summer months.
otherwise you will really enjoy it.
Just keep in mind that alcohol & pork are forbidden.

i have been visited jeddah once and it z really a great place to live in,but i went there as a tourist not to work but u r going there to work so u should ask some1 who worked there or lived there for a long time and it z safe as i saw

Jeddah is safe 100%..
you will live ina compound which is rounded with police on every where ..
and Jeddah is full of foreign .. it has the kindest people in the world ..
about dangerous ..it's in everywhere .. ( I still remember Miami )

Jeddah is great :)
Its just that the media has really stereotyped Saudi Arabia in the past few years. Its clean and civilized :)
Like they all said, the only downside might be the hot and humid weather in Summer..

The stories that you have heard is wrong observations. I was in Jeddah for two years and I found nothing as unsafe. A nice area with low crime rates. Peaceful job environment and safe place. I love to relocate in Jeddah. Go ahead.

am 100% sure it's safer than where ever you are at least you could go any place any time afraid of nothing all whats going on is some media thats all actully our majour problem that people like jeddah so bad that they don't go back to there homes again

Its safe but not fun really... It used to be nice but nowadays they are really out to get the expats and make life difficult for us. I'm leaving after almost 5 years...
