I don't think there's anything wrong with having the finer things in life, in fact, I'm certain that God wants me to. Now I would not make wealth my only pursuit in life, but it is an important one. I think it's a grave misunderstanding that Christians should be poor. What some don't know is that many men of God in the Bible was very wealthy.

From experience some people accumulate wealth to create a sense of importance, value, worth, stability and security. There are some positives to wealth, but there are some negatives as well. Wealth doesn't bring happiness. It doesn't make you any more important, valuable or worthy. It doesn't bring you absolute stability and security because you're never going to be satisfied with what you have and it could be taken from you in a moment's notice.

People who pursue wealth and power or who are controlled by the desire for worldly things are using those "things" to measure their own worth. Men in particular have a hard time with this because they have been taught that the "menfolk" are supposed to be successful to take care of their family etc. It is apparent in every society, even to the darkest recesses of Africa. The best hunter, the best provider etc. is the best husband to be etc.

There was a time when I chased all the material goodies in life, but I was younger then. With maturity I have found the money etc. does not buy happiness and hey a cardboard box for my cremation is fine by me

I'd love to be rich. But only so I could take care of my family and have a slightly easier time at paying bills and be able to live in the kind of house I wanted. And then I'd have a nice chunk of change to leave to all my children and grandchildren

The point is if you are eventually gonna die, u rather enjoy life...that depends on an individual's definition of 'enjoyment'...
Besides, what your point here? Yes, people are gonna die, yes in a casket...yea worms do eat the flesh...does this mean they CANNOT enjoy while alive?

I think this is a misrepresentation of the pursuit of wealth. Many enjoy the pursuit itself, and couldn't care less about the money. (this applies especially to futures traders/investors)

What's wrong with enjoying life? I have to admit, I won't spend money foolishly on garbage, but why not enjoy food, drink, travel, etc...? I do agree that buying useless things like bad art, antique furniture, and other things is unnecessary.
