Snakes are of the phylum 'chordata', subphylum 'vertebrata', which means they do indeed have spines. You also misspelled "tongue."
Perhaps the Republicans should change their party symbol to the mosquito, because all you hear is a whiny sound right before they get smacked down.
And how is this a military question? The Democrats and Republicans are political parties, not armed forces.

I'm a lifelong Republican and I disagree with much of the policy of the current crop of Democrats, but I would not favor changing the symbol and I do think comments like yours are unconstructive.
Many Democrats, particularly in the South, remain staunchly pro-military, conservative, patriotic, and many of them are shocked at the garbage that comes out of the mainstream party. I do believe that Democrats and Republicans should be regarded individually and judged accordingly.
There are some Republicans I disagree with, and I am very disappointed in the performance of the Republican-led Congress prior to the most recent election. They had a chance to lead that has not come their way since the 1950's, and they blew it.
Maybe the new Republican symbol should be a jellyfish.

No, I even have continuously favored animals that are paintings for a residing, and the donkey, inspite of that's popularity, does it jobs with little criticism. for the reason that Democrats are the working adverse and the midsection classification, our image is acceptable. Now if Romney gets elected, he ought to alter our national fowl from the eagle to the vulture.

Yes, they should. I like the suggestion about the snake smoking a joint beside a NAMBLA sign. Maybe they can make it wrapped in a Mexican or Iranian flag and biting an American flag. Or draped over an illegal alien's shoulder while it strikes out and bites a young American Boy Scout.
And definitely biting a United States soldier.
For all of the proud kids correcting the spine fact, ok maybe they do have a spine. But it's a slinky, slithery spine, so it still fits.

Maybe the Dumbocrats could create a hybrid animal, that fully recognizes the many happy faces and characteristics of their party. The animal could:
1) bury its head in the sand like an ostrich
2) run from danger like a gazelle
3) change colors like a chameleon
4) live without a brain like a jellyfish
Hey, I think we're on to something here!

Correction. Snakes do have spines, they are vertebrates. The proper symbol would be a worm, they don't have spines.

Sure, and the GOP should drop the elephant and opt for something more suitable, like a sheep.
