*laugh* Nope. I actually prefer Atheism: The Case Against God by George H. Smith. Sorry, Dawkins fans. I still love him to death!

Atheism is the lack of belief in a god. That said, there is no Bible for atheists, period. I don't know who compared the book to the Bible but it sounds kind of crazy. But even if an atheist did decide to compare "The God Delusion" to the Bible, that doesn't mean all atheists agree.

For instance if Pat Robertson compared spiders to birds, that doesn't mean all Christians believe spiders are birds.

And as for whether atheists think Dawkins is a god, that's a self-defeating question. What one thing do we know atheists believe? That there is no god. Neither Richard Dawkins nor anyone is God, in their opinion, because God doesn't exist.

Nope. Atheists don't have a Bible, nor do they have a god--otherwise, obviously, they wouldn't be atheists! This is shown to obviously be the case by the fact that there were atheists for centuries before "The God Delusion", so it can't be the Bible of atheists, whereas on could fairly say that, for example, The Satanic Bible is the Bible for (LeVayan) Satanists.

To address your claim more specifically: something isn't a "Bible" just because it's a relatively popular text within a certain group. Is "X-Men" the "Bible" of comic book fans? Of course not. Is every book a "Bible" if it is touted by a certain ideological movement? Of course not. To be a Bible, even METAPHORICALLY, a book has to be, at the very least, near-universally accepted by the group, and treated as infallible (or close to it). This is demonstrably not the case with the God Delusion, as some of the harshest criticism its received has been from atheist circles, many of which view it as redundant or poorly-formed. Although its true that most atheists who've read the book like it, that doesn't make it a "Bible" for atheism, obviously. There are much better candidates for that anyway, though no book really comes close to accurately reaching that goal, mainly because "atheism" isn't really an ideology, anymore than "not believing in Santa Claus" or "not believing in reincarnation" is.

Likewise, in the same way, Dawkins can't be considered a God because he's actually one of the most controversial prominent figures in atheism, similar to Sam Harris. Plus most of his writing is on biology, not religion or atheism; only his most recent book deals with this topic.

Besides, this is all rhetorical nonsense anyway, an attempt to conflate atheism with religion by using the metaphorical, loose senses of "God" and "Bible" and then equivocating with the literal sense. It's dishonest and unrealistic. Criticize atheism for its actual views, rather than distorting atheist positions and thus invalidating your own arguments.

No that is not our holy book. We are not holy and we don't believe in god. Dawkins is pretty dumb. Anyway, the God Delusion only describes why it is logical not to believe in god, while the bible teaches principles and what people should do in life. They are two entirely different concepts.

God is not the name of your sky daddy, it is OK to use the "O"in the middle.
Anyway, no it is not a "holy Book", however it is well written and clear about the points it makes. Maybe you could find a copy and read it, or just look up the videos. Learn something about what you are talking about. You could justify it to yourself as getting to know your enemy. A highly recommended thing before battles.

Atheists generally don't have holy books. I can't speak for all of us, but I know many atheists disapprove of the naivety with which Christians embrace the Bible and would never embrace a single book with the same lack of rational inquiry. Please try to ask more serious questions.

Is "The fisherman's bible" a holy book to fishermen, or just a useful book? Bible simply means "book". I personally haven't read the book you're talking about.

Here's the thing: Atheists don't believe in God. I know that you believe in God, and consequently you believe that everyone else believes what you believe, but no, that's not the case. However you juggle your interior mental landscape, you will make no progress at all, until you can come to grips with the idea that atheists don't believe in God.

If you can get that far, you will be on the verge of comprehension.

I'm not an atheist, but I don't think it would. Richard Dawkins just made a book in support of atheism, but he did not claim it had any devine value, and people who read it don't use it as the rules that govern their life.

There seems to be a Lot of people that don't know what to believe or put their faith in. Very sad.

People don't go to church and then they make up what they want to believe or have someone else tell them what they "think" .

What do they even base their thoughts on anyway??? Hollywood, or professors or parents that are worldly and don't know either? It is sad that people don't know what to believe for guidence in their lives.
